Hello, I am trying to ascertain if the HESTAND family living in Jackson Co IL in 1850 was connected to the ones in Monroe Co. KY and Jackson Co TN. They are neighbors to families named RICH, SKIPWORTH and MYERS who may also have been from the same areas in KY/TN. I research RICH and SKIPWORTH and am wondering what the connection might be to my lines. I am trying to prove that the Rich and Skipworth families in IL were connected to my lines in Monroe Co. KY and Jackson Co. TN.
The names on the 1850 census for Jackson Co. IL are :
Abraham, age 48 KY
Mary, age 52 TN
Martin, age 23 IL
William B. age 15 IL
Nancy, age 13 IL
Clarissa, age 11 IL
other names in this household are John WOOLSEY,Anna MCKINNEY and child Samuel.

In the next household, there is:
Elijah Hestand,age 26 TN
Pelinia ? age 18, IL (she was a FURLOW)

Dear Leon, My Grandmother's sister, Julia Ann Hestand who married Wm Riley Stone, was born Oct. 30, 1866 Monroe Co., KY and died Sept. 16, 1944 in Seymour, TX. I found her at the Family History Lib. by putting her name in. It took me way back on her maternal line. I hit the jackpot at LDS., then I ordered books from Archer Co. Mine was sister to my Grandmother, and born Monroe Co., KY to John B. Hestand Catharine
Black. (I am very aware of the Trimble Book and my family is on pg. 138. You can order it from David B. Trimble, 2506 Hartford Rd, Austin, TX 78703) My Gr-Grandfather, John Hestand was a Civil War Vet., and a blood disorder was handed down either from he or from Catharine Black's father. 1. David Trimble has written a book entitled "The Hiestand Family of Page County, Virginia, 1974".

2. My great grandmother, Julia Ann Hestand, married Henry Finis Akin. Both are buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. My great aunt Margie told me that they lived in Van Alstyne, Texas.

I would like to communicate and share information with anyone who knows of these two people.

I am the great grandson of Julia Ann (Hestand) Akin. My particular line goes back to Henry Hiestand, who was born in Switzerland about 1709 (but is of German descent). He migrated to America with a group of Mennonites while still a young man. Among his children was Abraham Hiestand born about 1740 in Pennsylvania, and married Magdalena Boehm.

There is a book written by David Trimble "Hiestand Family of Page County, Virginia".

This information was provided to me by others who are researching the Hestand family lines.

I have posted to www.myfamily.com and search for Julia Ann Hestand. This should help you find my information.

Texas Hestands

My Gr-Grandfather moved his family West to Hill Co, then Collin Co. then Archer Co. TX
in 1883 until OK opened land in 1892. They came west with other family members. Suspect all those Hestands are related to the Monroe Co., KY Clay Co., TN Family.

I am looking for information on my great great Uncle Lemuel (known as Jack)
He was born August 3,1890 in California, Missouri and died May 5, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. I know that his 2nd wife was named Baker (But she was called "Bake")
His father was Daniel Brown Hestand and his father was John Wells Hestand.
Any information on any of these family members would be great.
