Looking for the same people its Anna Gerken which is my great grandma Rose Heuer's(my grandma's)mother my grandma was born in 1907 in Iroqouis county one of four children of Anna gerken and Carl Heuer(my great grandpa) there was three others Hilda, Carl, and I believe John. Ive only met my aunt Hilda of the three. I cant find Carl or Anna's parents and have been searching for awhile just to find a little history on the family. I did know Anna was widowed when my grandma was a child and my family has an old bible of hers that has the dates the four children where born in it. Thats as far as I can get. My grandma passed away in 2002 at the age of 94. She spoke german fluently as a child and attended German schools in the U.S before her death when she was still in the hospital she started speaking in German again. I have been looking for this family too. I hope you get back to me so we can share what we know. In what way are you related down the line. I currently live in Kankakee county. Get back to me when you can!! shortyred21702@yahoo.com

I am looking for the family of Christ Heuer who was born about 1853 somewhere in Illinois. He moved to Lowden, Springfield Twp, Cedar Co., Iowa about 1875, than he moved unto South Dakota, Brown County. He and Family members are buried there.

He married Dora Otte born about 1855 in Iowa.

I have no idea where in Illinois he was born, but his father's name was Hans Christ Heuer. Anyone heard of this family before???

Any help would be great!!!
Hi, this might sound odd but i came across an old birthday book and 2 old photographs on postcards. The names on the back of the cards are Dora Mead Heuer and James burch Mead, the other photo is James and another unknown male. They are great quality pics . In the book it lists these Heuer names John Heuer,Burch Heuer. I have been trying for some time to locate anyone who might be of relation , I know they would be a cherished addition to someones history . Thank you for your time , if these names sound familiar you can email me at finegurlfromca@aol.com

Her parents were believed to come from Germany. I would love to know her birthday or any siblings that she had. In addition, I know she was married in 1924 which leads me to believe she was born in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Regarding Post about Frederick Heuer and Emilia Loeffler

About my earlier post, I did find them coming together in 1869, so disregard the part about them coming 2 yrs apart. The rest of the post is still valid, they came on the SS Donau, arriving port of New York 26 Apr 1869. But I am now looking for anyone who has info on them predating this event. In particular, info from Germany regarding what town they were born in. Most likely Hannover State as it existed in 1869 (larger than now) or Westfalen State. They were living in Westenholz, Westfalen about 1867-1869.

Looking for immigration records for Frederick Heuer and Emilia Loeffler, who are said to have come to America from Hannover, Germany abt. 1869. Married in Germany abt 2 yrs earlier. Family oral tradition says they came together, but looks like Frederick (nickname 'Fritz') appears to have come alone in 1869, on the Bark Atalanta. Emilia may have come in 1867 on the Bark Tuisko. Does anybody have any info showing they sailed together in 1869? I want to make sure I have the right people. I have her sister Louise Loeffler arrival on the Bark Columbus in 1869, family tradition says she came 2 yrs after Emilia, she would marry William Meissner in Wisconsin in Jan.1870.

Thanks so very much for the response, Julie; but it's clear, now, that we're talking different families. The family we sought lived and died in St Clair Co, MI (about 40 miles NNE of Detroit); we don't know whether they were born here or immigrated from Germany. Interestingly, although not surprisingly, the names on our list were similar to several of yours: father Charles (1851-1932), wife Mary (1862-1936), sons John (1886-1909 and Albert (1893-1958), plus apparently Albert's wife Anna Heuer (1893-1967).

We aren't related to Heuers. My wife is creating a "Cemetery Book" on those buried in her little Lutheran Church's cemetery. No one today knew or knows of these Heuers; thus, our search. Again, Julie, thanks for trying to help.

Hi,
The information that I have in regards to information obtained from the Old Country was through a distant cousin who has been researching the family for many years. He actualy traveled there and did speak of the area towns as being small and the very old buildings that are standing. While there he obtained some information through a couple of churches but for the most part he only learned very very little.I would suggest if you have been able to obtain an address for any of the churches in the area you may be able to find out something.I wish I could be of more help.Good luck in your searches.

Finding Heuers in Indexes

I have been having trouble finding Heuers that I knew should be there in various record indexes. Then I recalled someone sending me a census record with a wild misspelling of the name and tried that - it worked!

The problem becomes a transcription problem compounded by lack of knowledge of German names.

In a lot of older handwriting the "u" and "n" are practically indistinguishable. If then a person not familiar with German names looks at this it is more likely to be transcribed as "Hener" than as "Heuer".

I found many of my Heuers in the census by looking up "Hener".

Hello! I am looking for information on Christ and Catherine (Dieckman) Heuer. They are my great-great-grandparents. They immigrated from Germany around 1885/1886. Christ and Catherine lived in Iowa and are buried in Muscatine, Iowa (I have a photograph of their headstone). I am wondering who Christ (possibly Christian) and Catherine's parents are and any possible siblings. I am also wondering if a Frederick Heuer is related in some way to Christ as both Frederick and Christ's wives were having children about the same time (makes me think they may be brothers). Catherine's father is/was named Paul Dietman (spelling is what it appears on her death "certificate" or what is appears to be spelled as).

Edward Christ Heuer is the son of Christ and Catherine (Dieckman) Heuer. Lillie Rose (or Rose Lillie) Bartelt was his wife and HER family settled in Wisconsin.

Any information on Christ and Catherine would be GREATLY appreciated as they are a brick wall of mine.
Amy

I'm looking for any information into Henry Heuer of St. Louis, MO and any of his decedents. Born Oct 1849 in Germany (possibly Bavaria), Henry Heuer immigrated to St. Louis in 1879 to work as a cigar maker with his own shop on Lexington Ave.

He and his wife Dora (b. Jul 1848) had five children: Fredrick Ernest (b. 11 Sep 1877), William (b. Jun. 1880), Dora (b. Dec 1883), Sophia Elizabeth "Lizzie" (b. Sep 1886), and Gustav Wilhelm "Gus" (b. 28 Feb 1889).

Gus Heuer continued the family business of cigar making and married a Caroline Elisabeth Barke (b. abt 1891) sometime around 1910. They had one and possibly two children, one of which being Dorothy Elisabeth (b. 13 Oct 1915). Something of a family mystery surrounds him as to whether he died or not after 1920.

Fred Heuer became an upholsterer and married a women by the name of Molly (b. abt 1882). They, as far as I know, only had one son named Fred Jr. (b. abt 1903) of whom which I would very much like to tract his decedents.

Any information regarding Henry Heuer and his relatives or decedents, please do not hesitate to email me.
I am looking for sisters and brother from Wisconsin, last name Heuer. I was adopted in 1963 to a family in Utah through LDS social services. I was kept with my older sister and not separated through foster homes and eventually adopted. She passed away 14 yrs ago. I believe we were all adopted in the state of Utah. My mothers name was Grace and my father was military. Any info, please let me know.
