Jackson WHeeler and Delana Lane

Would you please tell me what source information you have that places Jackson Wheeler in this family? Where did you get the name Delana Lane? Delana is in the Old Baptist Cemetery in Pope Co, AR (findagrave.com) and she died in 1895. Jackson is found in the 1850, 1860, and 1880 censuses for Pope Co, AR. In 1877 he married a M. Louise Wooten and had one child by her, Levi Jackson Wheeler born 1878. So Delana and Jackson must have divorced. Also, jackson always indicated that he was born in TN and his mother was born in KY. THis does not fit with your Wheeler family. There is another researcher that has him as a brother of ALexander Wheeler also of Pope Co, AR. There is also another error in your family tree. The Nancy Wheeler that married Miller Lea/Lee is a daughter of William Wheeler and Mary Friend of Washington Co, KY. After William Wheelers death in 1815 the family moved to Rhea Co, TN after 1820. Nancy's sister married Miller Lea/Lee's brother. This is my family. I would really like to know what source material you are using.

Dear Indygrandma,
Please contact me on my personal e-mail: Sally1651@comcast.net for further correspondence.

Hurrah! Hurrah! How very WONDERFUL to hear from you. I've been searching for a trail about Rebecca for years and this is the very first I've found of anyone who even heard of her. She was the sister of my Great-grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Hewitt Peabody and I would love to exchange any and all info on this family group. I have the Hewitt line back to Capt Thomas Hewitt (the earliest I have seen documented) who d abt 1662, lost at sea. My earliest
Randall is one of many John Randalls - this one d 1685 in Westerly RI, so both were immigrant ancestors in their lines probably coming from England, although I haven't established those links yet.

This is all the information I have on Rebecca, whom her sister Sarah called "Becca": b 7 Nov 1851; in the 1860 census of North Stonington CT with her parents and sister but haven't found her in any other census anywhere; marriage April 1869 and death probably after 1900. I did find that Becca and Kendric had four children: Roy b abt 1871, Abbie b 1874, Joe H b 1877 and baby b 1879. I have hunted and hunted census, marriage, burial, cemetery and
other forms of records both in IL, CT, RI and other locales but have been able to find nothing, although I certainly could have missed Becca or her family. I'd appreciate so very much knowing if any of the data I have is correct or not and what else you may have. I'd also like to have the lineage down from Becca to present with permission to add that data to my database.

I can receive data in any form: GedCom, e-mail attachment or snail mail. So let me know how best to get info on to you and your brother-in-law. Obviously you must be the genealogist and the one to contact, right?

Send me your direct e-mail address and I'll send you tombstones of ancestors.

Again anxious to hear more from you.

Sally Andrews Neely, Great-granddaughter of Sarah Hewitt, who I was named after.

Myrtle was my paternal grandmother. I never got to meet her. I would LOVE any information anyone may have on her and her side of the family! :) The info I do have is that she was born in 1904 (April 14) in Carthage, NY to William W. and Mary (Baker)Hewitt. She married Stanley Foster Clintsman in 1923 and had 2 sons, Clark L (my dad) and Alfred S Clintsman. Myrtle died in April of 1998. I have some info on her father's side, but nothing on her mother's side except for her name -- Mary Frances Baker. Thanks!

I have been trying to find Nancy Hewitt's parents for many years. She was born in Lewiston in 1800. She was referred to as Squire Hewitt's daughter when she married Mathias Kline. She died in 1827. One of the Joseph Hewitts, in his 1830 will, whose widow was Anne (Forsyth?), mentioned Nancy's children in his will because she was already deceased. The only Joseph Hewitt I find who died in 1830 was the one married to Jerusha Morse. I can find no Joseph Hewitt married to an Anne. Can any of you Hewitts help. This is one confusing family.

Hi Sandra, just read your message.Thomas Snowden Hewitt was my Great Great Great Grandfather. His Father was John Hewitt and Mother Ann Britton Snowden. As far as I know he had one sister Ann b1804 who never married and a brother Peter who died in infancy. He was married to Sarah Roberts and they had 2 daughters:Mary Ann and Sarah.I think he was deported about 1837.
I have a family tree for the Snowdens and Hewitts. I am intrigued. Would love to know where you fit in!
Regards Karen Brown

Kate & Aaron - I may also be related to your Hewitts. My g grandfather was Walter S Hewitt and I believe his father was George W Hewitt of Staunton, VA. Walter had a brother J Willis and George, along with several others. I thought George W Hewitt in Staunton was John Hill Hewitt's son but the 1850 census lists George K, not George W as John and Estelle's son. Do either of you have a copy of John Hill Hewitt's obituary?

Thomas Snowdon Hewitt was deported to Tasmania for 7 years on ship called 'Susan'after spending 1 years hard labour in prison nr York. I believe his English wife to be Sarah Roberts (married 6 Feb 1830) and they had 2 girls - Mary Ann 1831; Sarah Snowden 1833 to 1869. I think they had a son William 1835 who died in infancy. Have tried finding Sarah in the 1841 Census and think the girls later lived with an elderly relative but can't prove anything.

I have a family of Hewitts living in the Clerkenwell area in the 1800s, but am having a hard time finding who is connected to whom, as none of the records available online (pre 1837) give the father's occupation.

I have CHARLES HEWITT, jeweller/goldsmith married to ANN HUGHES(don't know when or where). They have 9 children who I know of, namely -
CHARLES b: c 1835,Clerkenwell (living with parents 1841/1851 census)
HENRY b: 12.12.1837, Clerkenwell, poss. died New Zealand 1926
WILLIAM b: c1840, Clerkenwell (with parents 1841/1851 census)
JANE b: c1843, Birmingham, married Thomas Payne & died South Australia 1908
GEORGE b: 30.5.1845 Birmingham, (with parents 1851/1861 census)
ALFRED b: 21.8.1850 Islington, married in England abt 1871/1872, 2nd marriage New Zealand to Ada Aldridge, d: 27.5.1934 New Zealand
JOHN b: c1853 Clerkenwell (with parents 1861 census)
HARRIET b: 2.10.1854 Clerkenwell, married Daniel Platt
ELLEN b: c1857 Clerkenwell (with parents 1861/1871 census)

CHARLES HEWITT b c1811 Middlesex married 2nd wife ANN MOSLEY in 1868 St Lukes. CHARLES died 17.8.1883 Middlesex.

CHARLES on his 2nd marriage certificate gives his father as WILLIAM HEWITT, dyer.

There are various entries of Hewitts in Clerkenwell all with similar names, do you know of any records which give the occupation of the father so that the pre 1837 Hewitts can be placed with the appropriate parents??
