Hickernell and Clark

I recently came in possession of a letter written to my great grandfather
from his cousin Dora. The letter is dated July
14, 1940. Dora had been doing some genealogy and wanted
to inform my great grandfather of her findings. She stated
that their great grandfather Clark had married a
Hickernell girl from the Perry/Cumberland Co., PA area. This
would have been around 1818. They had two sons, Jacob (born 1820) and
William. There may have been some daughters also.

Jacob Clark married Sarah Spence and lived in Martic
Twp., Lancaster County, PA. I have placed them on the census from 1850 through
1880. They are buried in Colemanville Cemetery.

Dora also said in the letter that the father of one side of
the Clark/Hickernell union was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.
Unfortunately no first names were used. She referred to these people
as Grandpa Clark and Great Grandpa Clark, etc.

Hopefully another of you Hickernell researchers can solve this mystery.
