James Higginbottom and Nancy Ward

I am searching for the burial site of Nancy Ward Higginbottom. I think it is in Izard County, Arkansas.
She was first married to James Langley and lived in Ark. Then she married David Eddington on Dec. 5, 1869 in Ark. Then she married James Higginbottom on Oct. 22, 1879 in Ark. The last record I found of her was in the 1910 Census in Jefferson Township, Izard County, Ark. she is living with her son James Langley. At that time she is 66 years old. I did not find her in the 1920 census. In her adult life she was always in Arkansas. so, the only conclusion I can come to is that hse is buried some where in Izard County.If anyone knows where, I would be grateful to know.

I am the gg granddaughter of Amanda/Arminda Elizabeth Higginbottom Whittier Graham Parker.
I am trying to figure out where the Whittier family married into the family. Arminda/Amanda is the daughter of William Higginbottom and Sarah Autry. He died and Sarah may have married a Whittier before she married Ira Earl Graham. They ended up in Benton County Arkansas. Arminda/Amanda married William Parker. Also there was a brother named William Higginbottom Graham, does anyone know what happened to him?

I was wondering whether anyone might have any information on Sarah I Higginbottom. She was born 1819 in Gorey, Wexford co, Ireland. She married William Wallace in 1841 in Gorey, Wexford, Ireland. They then immigrated shortly thereafter to australia.
I would be interested if anyone has links to any other Higginbottoms of Wexford.

They had 5 children recorded as born in Mellor.

Alice's was eldest daughter of Peter Pickford and Mary Shawcross.

Thomas and Joel Higginbottom of Salford, Lancashire

My great, great grandfather was Thomas Higginbottom from Salford. On his marriage certificate to Mary Brindle (1857) his father was noted as Joel Higginbottom (I think born about 1794). I have found a marriage for a Joel Higginbottom to a Jemima North at Manchester Cathedral in 1815 on Family Search & not sure if this is my ancester or not - but would be really grateful if anyone has any other information on these names.
Thomas' daughter - my great grandmother - was called Jemima Jane Higginbottom (that's why I think Jemima North was probably a correct guess!) - she was born 23.9.1859 in Salford and she was unmarried when she gave birth to my grandmother Bertha in 1884. These are other names I'd be grateful to get information about if anyone out there could help.Thanks from Lesley in Australia

Hi, I am looking for more information about Ruth Higginbottom, daughter of Samuel a farmer from New Mills area of Derbyshire. Ruth was married to my great uncle John Roe Wigley, son of Margaret Greenwood and John Roe WIgley Snr. They married in Mellor Derbyshire in 1907 but Ruth died in Hazel Grove Derbyshire in 1911, I am not sure what she died of. Any help in finding more info about her would be great she was born in Rowarth in 1884 I have found some census records so have a lot of info about her family members but would like to know more about her death. John re married in 1917 to Martha Ann Smith, I am unsure of any children with either Ruth or Martha.

My grandfather Harry Higginbottom immigrated to Iowa from Lancashire, England in 1914 with father Jesse, mother Sarah Owen. Jesse's father was James and his father was Jonathan. I have some other information but am looking for absolutely anything about these Higginbottoms and the Owens. Thanks!

I am also a descendant of Nathaniel Higginbottom and Eliza Ann Clapton. Most of the information on the Higginbottom line in the Clapton book came from me :-)

We go to Hardy ever year around June 16 th we still have
family there. My mother twin sister lives near there. I know
there still some Higginbottom still in and around Hardy Ar.
We use to have a big reunion in Hardy many years ago.
My Uncle Bill got me started on it. His son stills lives in
Hardy. My aunt is Hazle Flinn. lives around Hardy.

My mother is a Higginbottom also. I know you said your family came from ms but do you know where they came from
befor Ms ? Our Higginbottom started in VA then went to Ky
Then to AR. Our Higginbottom was not far from Hardy Ar.
I have our Higginbottom back to about befor 1765. With
Moses and Mary Black line.Not for sure if our lines cross or not.

My family is also from Hardy and Sitka AR. I still have family
there. We go every summer. I take my mother to see her twin sister.I wounder how our family line goes with each other.
My is Nadene Higginbottom - Lula and Robert Lee Higginbottom and then it goes Alexandra and Elizabet
( Knighton ) Higginbottom. My mothe is 80 Years old.

My Great Grandparents were Laura and Bob Higginbottom. My grandfather was Woodrow.

Massac was my great-grandfather. His daughter, Vinnie, was my grandmother and she had two children, one of which was my father, Jerry Dean Nixon. She passed away in 1994.

Sorry about the Ky. im so use email my daughter and she
does a lot of the short cuts. Ky is Kentucky. My line comes from Moses Higginbottom / Hickinbottom and Mary Black.
Then Oglesbury / Oglesby Higginbottom. My Uncle Bill
started the family Tree some time ago and I have pick it up
and have been finding things along the way. We know they
came from Virginia and then Kentucky and then Arkansas.
It is said Oglesbury son James was a river boats man but
we have not found anything on it so far. James would be my
Great Great Grandfather. I also have some photos of some
of the Higginbottom and I have a tin plate photo who I do not
know who it is ov. But we do know it has to be a Higginbottom.Our we on the same line of family? If so
yes I would love to share what I have and what you may have.
I do not have a whole lot. I will be going to Kentucky in May
I hope I will have time to look for some more records.

Thanks for the email, i dont understand your shorthand, where is Ky, sounds like a planet on start trek.

Higginbottom is an old english derivation of the name hick in bottom, which mean rowan tree in the valley. It is a northern name, mainly lancashire, UK.

My family originally come from Lancaster and many of their names are mentioned in the records of manchester Cathedral where some of them got married or were christened.

I also have Higginbottom on my side of the family. They came
from Ky,and Va. then to Ar. I have gone back to abt. 1785 or
1820 but it has been said the name started out as
Hickenbottom or Hickinbottom was change a few diffrent ways.

Matthew was born c1792 in Middlesex, England and married Sarah Louise Howard approx 1830. They had maybe 8 children including Martin, Lydia, Joseph, Jun, Nathaniel, John, Robert, Ebenezer who were all on the 1851 census living at home. There may be an older 2 girls as well.

HI! iam james w. rogers. my family has ties to the higginbottom's from noxubee co ms.also winston co.
abt 1890 + - a few yrs some of them left and went to ark. one of their daughters married a john r yancey and lived in conway co. until abt 1915+ - then moved to chicot co.in the town of dermot then moved to pine bluff where john died abt 1941 not sure abt mary. some of their children are john b. evea or something then annie and lena (twins) edna, cora,zella,vernon and i think one more. am not sure if all these are correct. i have a copy of a letter dated 1944 to my g uncle armstead rogers and am trying to contact the children. we are having a reunion in june 17thand 18th if you have any info on these people please have them contact me at jbuddyjim@ yahoo.com. i am not sure if they are any of your people if you think so there is a good record in ms were one of my cousins helped do a book on them. hope this info helps thanks a lot james rogers

Hello Kevin, I am researching family history on all sides Clapton being one of them. I have a family history written on the Claptons which has a lot of information on Nathaniel and his wife Eliza Ann Clapton. Have you seen it?
Did you know they married on 12/2/1894 and had 12 children .
He was a printer and an upholsterer. Nathaniel died in Richmond on 30/6/1909 and was buried at booroondara cemetery Kew Victoria. Eliza lived until the 3/9/1936 dying at braybrook and is buried at Fawkner cemetery.
Two of the children died in infancy.

It is said that my family came from Barbados West Indies. I do not have a lot on it but also the name has been change several times. I will have to get my notes out to see. But two brothers came over and went diffrent way in the us. I think their father was Charles. But would like to find out more.

John B. Roberts arrested on charge of killing Y. N. Higginbottom near Cement, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 12 May 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

A man supposed to be John B. Roberts was arrested last week near El Paso, Texas, and will be held until the arriveal of authorities from Comanche County. Roberts is wanted on the charge of killing Y. N. Higginbottom and his two sons on December 20, 1901, on thier claim near Cement.

Hey I think I can help you out some since we are related. Your uncle Leroy was born 27 Feb 1938 in Houston. He had 3 daughters and 1 son. They are Leesa, Janna, Jana, and Sean. His wifes name was Lela Ann. Your grandfather died 1Jul 1975 in Palo Pinto and your grandmother died 17 Sep 1976 in Eastland. Your father was married to my mother Sandra.
