Due to a technicality I am unable to respond to a message you posted on another message board (see below). Please see my HIGSONs and HALSTEADs message to you which I posted on the Ancestry.com HALSTEAD surname message board.

"Seeking information about my grandmother Ada HALSTEAD, born Burnley 1877. On her marriage cert her father's name is given as John Higson HALSTEAD, however in subsequent censuses he is just John Higson, son of Matthew. I believe she may have been born before her parents' marriage, and that her mother's name was Ruth HALSTEAD. She was later brought up by her maternal aunt Olive Atkinson nee HALSTEAD and her husband James Atkinson, and her father remarried and moved to Yorkshire. If anyone has information about Ada and her family, I would love to hear it."
