Hildebrand files need adopting

I was “gifted” with a box of genealogy having to do with one of my family lines after a researcher passed away. In the box is also a lot of other family lines that aren’t mine. I’ve sorted them into folders as best I can and here are the surnames and a little about them if I can tell much.

Buttrey – Wilkes Co NC (small file – letters)
Bailey – Topeka Kansas, New Castle, Pa, Youngstown, Ohio (small file, letters)
Loveless – Columbus Ohio, Washington Co., Va (small file, letters)
Wilderich – Henry Wiederick or Wilderick, b Germany 1858, pedigree chart (small file)
Hildebrand – Morgan County, Missouri, John Hildebrand b 1822 in Baden Germany m Victoria Anhauser or Enghauser – (thick file, quite a bit of research)
Trabuc/Trabue – Edward Trabue b 1764, son of John, married Martha Haskins, Jessamine Co., Ky and Va.
King – Joseph King m 1819 to Frances, Lincolnshire England
Nichols – Abner JeffersonNichols b 1837 probably Alabama, poss Missouri or Ark. (one letter only)
Swallow – from England, possible Liverpool (one letter only)
Brown – a few pages of general research
Burton/Cecelia – Philadelphia Pa, research log only
Rouse/Buler – Geoge Rouse and wife and grandfather Daniel Barlow born in Va near Culpepper Court house and moved to Boone Co Ky. (2 pages)

The ones below seem to be grouped together as I've grouped them. I would presume that these files in the groups would go to a researcher as a unit.

Group 1:
Smith – Thomas Leslie Smith, Missouri, born Pittsylvania Co, Va to John Wesley Smith and Sally Saunders Claytor Leftwich
Leftwich – Bedford Co., Va.
Gregory – includes Minter, Adair Co., Ky, other Ky counties, Powhatan Co, Va., John Gregory Rev War Vet, (quite a bit of research)
Minter – Fayette County, Ky, Powhatan Co, Va. (also in the Gregory file)

Group 2:
Bolander – Stephen Bolander b 1756 Lancaster Co Pa m Magaretha Shinkle (small file, letters)
Shinkle – Colorado, South Dakota, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and Illinois
Bush – Catherine Bush m Philip Jacob Shinkle in Brush Valley, Center Co., Pa. (one letter only)
McConnell – Arthur in Washington Pa, then to Ky, Ohio and Indiana and then his children and grandchildren to Illinois and Iowa, John McConnell served in War of 1812 from Ohio Militia, Brown Co. Ohio
Luing – intermixed in other files
Watson – two lines, one from Oxford who never left England and one from York and Lincoln who came to the western US in the 1920s (small file, letters)
Wyatt – intermixed in other files
Logan – in the same file as Gregg, Pennsylvania, Jefferson Co., Indiana
Gregg – in the same file a Logan, Pennsylvania, Jefferson Co., Indiana

Group 3 – the familes below are all intermingled in one file – Kittaning, Armstrong Co., Pa, Mercer Co., Pa, various Pa, Va and NC counties, also Missouri,
Hellam – George Curtis Hellam m Mary Ellen Hawk
Peat – Oran Peat b 1899 m Gutherie Faye in Pa
Hawk – Daniel Hawk m Magdalena Bricker
Welton – intermarried with the above families

Group 4
Godley – Quaker, Farquier Co, Va, Georgia, Anderson Co., Tx (much research) – also see Peacock
Peacock – from Nottingham England, never came to America, Elizabeth m George Godley and their dau Sarah came to the us in 1924.

These are yours for the price of postage. First to e-mail me, first to get the file. Let me know which files you want.

Roberta Estes
Paul.....

Do you have birthdate for your Jacob O? Where did the O come from? It is not shown in his baptism. Could his mother have a maiden name with O? There were OHLINGER/OLINGERs also at Moselem church. I have not searched for a Christina in that family.

At Moselem Lutheran Church, in Berks Co PA records,
baptism of Jacob HELTENBRAND born 7/4/1779, bp 8/15/1779, parents: George and Christina HELTENBRAND, spons: Peter Kraemer and Barbara Heltenbrand (both single)[Barbara was a sister of George.]
(Source - Berks Co Church Records of 18th Century, Vol 2, F Edward Wright, pub 1999, page 215.)

George married sometime aft June 1778. On 6/6/1778 he and Hannah Kraemer were sponsors for Joh. Friedrick Wiltraut, born 2/9/1778, s/o Johannes and Maria Christina (Kraemer) Wiltraut. His surname was spelled HILDENBRAND then. I assume he was not yet married at that time, otherwise his wife would have been with him at the baptism.

The maiden name of his wife Christina is not known, unless it is shown at the cemetery where she is buried.
Some people have shown she was a KRAEMER, but Christina KRAEMER, dau of Joh. Frederick KRAEMER and Anna Maria MERKEL, married a John BRAUN. And this Christina KRAEMER was still single in 12/20/1778 when she was a sponsor at Moselem church for a child of her sister Elizabeth KRAEMER who m a Daniel WALTZ.

George was on the census in 1790 in Westmoreland Co PA, South Huntington, page 109 of N Huntington.
0/16 u/16 females
line 40 | Georg Hiltebrand | 1 1 | 2

This shows a female in the h/h besides son Jacob, under 16. Do you know if George and Christina had a daughter?

Yes...the surname has been spelled in many ways!

I could not find them in 1800 Census. But I have a note that he died abt 1809.

George HILDEBRAND/var was a son of Geo. Nicholas HILDEBRAND and wife Anna Maria HILL. He was born 1/14/1759, bp 1/24/1759 at Moselem Lutheran Church, spons: Joh. George MERKEL/MERKLE and wife Catharina HILL.

I found a Hildebrand genealogy book at an antique sale. It is called, "Karl Hildebrand, Family Tree, 1859-1982," edited by Katherine Schroeder. It covers the descendants of Peter and Katharina Hildebrand who left Russia with their 11 children, first arriving at Niverville, Manitoba in Canada, and later Sommerfeld, Manitoba(in 1880).
Karl Hildebrand was one of their children. He married Anna Dyck b. 9 Apr. 1865. His first wife died, childless.

Other related names: Schroeder, Sawatzky, Heinrichs, Friesen, Wiens.

If you are related to these people and would like this book, please email me. I am not related to these families.

Hi, I just read your message here, and I too have the Hildebran name. At one point in time I believe they spelled it Hilderbran/Hilderbrand/Hilderbrant. Makes it difficult. My great great grandparents are buried near me, on their stone it is spelled Hildebran. Their names were John b.1825 d.1909 and his wife Rachael Tucker-Hildebran b.1828 d.1911. John's parents are John b.1791/1797 d.1874/1881 wife Esther Long b.1790/1798 d.1864/1874 I believe they are buried in Arba, Indiana. Do these names seem familiar, gee I hope so, it has been a brick wall. Thanks, Karen
