John and son James

John Hilderbrand married Mary Jane Rogers in 1841 in Indiana. They had three children: Mary E. Hilderbrand, Sarah Hilderbrand and James Hilderbrand. They moved to Keokuk County Iowa and probably there John married a second time to Barbra _?_. Mary is my direct ancestor so I know about her, but I don't know what happened to Sarah. James lived his life as a farmer in Lancaster and Warren Townships, married Nancy _?_, and according to the 1910 census they had eight children, five of which were living in 1910. The only names I know are Laura Hilderbrand (b. abt 1869), Ida Hilderbrand (b. abt 1876) and Harry or Henry Hilderbrand (b. abt 1891).

My GG Grandmother Nancy Ann "Collett" Wattenbarger was born 1820 in Washington County, Tennessee. She had family with surname of Hilderbrand, however I don't have a given name for the Hilderbrand. We think this Hilderbrand was a Cherokee Indian female. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with history of Hilderbrands in Eastern Tennessee about this time.
Hilderbrand Line from Abraham Hilderbrand

Hi, I am looking for information on the parents of Abraham Hildebrand. I am also looking for information on how and why the name was changed from Hildebrand to Hilderbrand. I know only that Abe was born sometime about 1748 and died somewhere around 1833 he married Anna Schantz in March 1776 and had a son named James in 1779 our particular line goes ; Abe, James, Samuel, George, Ora, Malcolm and my father Richard E. I am looking for family from those lines. I have more info in my family book that also has a family crest believed to have been our crest from Germany which has a shiled split into three parts, three crowns on it, an anchor and a knight's helmet on the top. It is surrounded with a thick vine that borders each side, that was mailed to us from a Charles E. Hilderbrand in Ohio, who I don't know. DFoes anyone know if our family had a crest like this? Thanks,

Richard A. Hilderbrand
My ggg uncle Abraham Cottrell b.June 11, 1803 married Susannah Hilderbrand at Union Co., IN in 1823. Later they moved to Madison, Co. IN. where they lived until they died near a town named Fortville,IN. and are buried at the Chapman/Cottrell or Cottrell cemetery. I know little of the Hilderbrand side but Abe's father was John Cottrell born 1771 and mother Elizabeth born 1776 who came from Ohio and before that Va. and possibly PA.
They also show in the 1820 census in Preable Co. Ohio being the Cottrell side which in the census is spelled Kottrell but is this family. Need help tracing the Hilderbrand side. Thanks Bob Cottrell.

Hilderbrandt/Luabmister Tree

This is all the information I have on the Hilderbrandt's in my family tree. In all reality William Hilderbrandt is the 2nd husband of my GGreat-grandmother. So I'm not to sure how this works. After some quick calculation I would have to think that William Hilderbrandt and Elizabeth Laubmister were born between 1825 and 1835. Elizabeth Laubmister first had 4 additional children from her first marriage to Carl Maier. 12 children in all. Life must have been really slow back then.

Anyway if anyone would like to compare notes, please send me an email.

This is my link to the Hilderbrandt portion of my Tree on RootsWeb.

http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?o...

Hilderbrandt Tree.

1 William HILDEBRANDT
. + Elizabeth LAUBMIESTER
.... 2 William HILDEBRANDT
.... 2 Eddie HILDEBRANDT
.... 2 Tillie HILDEBRANDT
...... + Charles KIMLIEM
.... 2 Henrietta HILDEBRANDT
.... 2 Isabella HILDEBRANDT
...... + Dennis DOWLING
........ 3 Isabella DOWLING
.......... + Jim FERGUSON
............ 4 James FERGUSON
........ 3 Marge DOWLING
........ 3 Louise DOWLING
........ 3 Dennis DOWLING
.......... + Mary UNKNOWN
........ 3 Elizabeth DOWLING
.......... + Gene MONAGHAN
............ 4 Paul MONAGHAN
............ 4 Gerry MONAGHAN
............ 4 Brian MONAGHAN
........ 3 Marion DOWLING
.......... + William DIETZ
.... 2 Clora HILDEBRANDT
.... 2 John HILDEBRANDT
.... 2 Alma HILDEBRANDT
...... + Louis SPOHN
........ 3 William SPOHN
...... + John BERRYMAN
........ 3 Jack BERRYMAN

Regards

Ernie Hartnett
PiperMEH@Ultracom.net
or
hartnette@nabisco.com
