My sister Pat Torrance wrote the History of our branch of the Hilderbrand family which contains some of the information that may help you. I will copy what I can for you, but if you will E-mail an address I can send you most of the older history. My E-mail address is a651mischief@ yahoo.com. We have been doing genealogy since the late 50s and are very careful about documentation.

I have an Amanda Hilderbrand b. 1849 in my family with father Jacob Y. Hilderbrand abt. 1815 (probably S.C.). Jacob is the son of William abt 1785 (S.C.).

I have that Jacob had 2 wives, #1, Mary Huey and #2, Mary Esslinger. My records show Jacob had 9 children, including Amanda.

Supposedly, the 1850 census has Jacob (age 35), Mary (22), Mary (13), and Amanda (1) living in Dekalb county Georgia but I have been unable to find this record searching Ancestry.com. If this is the case, I think we can assume that Amanda is the daughter of Mary Esslinger and that Mary, age 13, is the daughter of the first wife, Mary Huey.

I have more Hilderbrand information but nothing more on Amanda. If you find the 1850 census record of this family, please let me know.
Tina

Hi Karen, I am researching the Grier/Greer family. Dessie Pearl Cross mother Laura Elvis Grier is my great-great
grandmother's sister. So it looks like we are related down
the line. I was wondering if you knew when Dessie Pearl
Cross died, and where she is buried? I found a website
for Coal county in Oklahoma that has a listing of who all
had gotten married in that county. It showed that Dessie Pearl Cross married J.W. Helterbrand. I would love to talk
to you, I hope you will e-mail me. Thanks. Donna Robbins

I found a picture of Clarence Hilderbrand in an antique store in San Antonio, TX. It looks like it was taken in Nashville, Ill. but there are no dates on it. I would like to get it in the hands of a family member.
Thanks,
Tonnia Carr
Rye, TX

Washington County, Tennessee. 1820.

My GG Grandmother Nancy Ann "Collett" Wattenbarger was born 1820 in Washington County, Tennessee. She had family with surname of Hilderbrand, however I don't have a given name for the Hilderbrand. We think this Hilderbrand was a Cherokee Indian female. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with history of Hilderbrands in Eastern Tennessee about this time.
Hilderbrand Line from Abraham Hilderbrand

Hi, I am looking for information on the parents of Abraham Hildebrand. I am also looking for information on how and why the name was changed from Hildebrand to Hilderbrand. I know only that Abe was born sometime about 1748 and died somewhere around 1833 he married Anna Schantz in March 1776 and had a son named James in 1779 our particular line goes ; Abe, James, Samuel, George, Ora, Malcolm and my father Richard E. I am looking for family from those lines. I have more info in my family book that also has a family crest believed to have been our crest from Germany which has a shiled split into three parts, three crowns on it, an anchor and a knight's helmet on the top. It is surrounded with a thick vine that borders each side, that was mailed to us from a Charles E. Hilderbrand in Ohio, who I don't know. DFoes anyone know if our family had a crest like this? Thanks,

Richard A. Hilderbrand
Looking for information on Rebecca Ann Hildebrandt Broughton married Isaac Broughton. The Hildebrandt, Rapshear and Broughton families are living in DeKalb Co, GA in 1840. By 1850 some of them had moved to Randolph Co, AL, including Sarah, the widow of William Hildebrandt. In 1860 Oktibbeha Co, MS. Mary Hellibrand, 47, GA and children Amanda, 17 AL and Henry, 8, AL are living near the Broughtons.

I believe that R. Ann is the daughter of William Hildebrandt and his first wife.

The surname Morgan is also associated with this family.
