Previous information indicated that Lucy Beasley (Rachel's mother) was born in N.C. (Rachel lists this as South Carolina in the 1900 census).

1850 Indiana, Spencer County, shows on page 125, dwelling # 871 John Hilderbrant, age 31 white, male, farmer, owning no real estate, born in Ohio living with his wife Lucy, age 24 born in N.C.:

1860 Indiana, Spencer County, Ohio Township lists on page 48 a John Hilderbrant, age 41, farmer, no real estate, with personal property valued at 4475., born in Ohio living with wife Lucy, age 38 (note she aged 14 years since last census) and

Sometime after 1860 the HILDEBRANT family left Spencer County and moved to Ill..
Rachel Hilderbrant married Christian "Christopher Columbus" Reisch on Christmas day 1866 in Fayette County Illinois. Their first four children were born in ILL.

Frank Reisch says (note the genealogist working in 1975 specifically stated that she could not find this family in Ind - good work Frank): 1870 Oconee Township, Shelby County, Illinois census record, roll 277, page 132:

Note that Rachel was registered as still living in the family home 4 years after her marriage in 1866.
Does anyone have info on John or Lucy's parents
