<title>Re: Family Hildesheim in Germany Preussen</title>
      <link>http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.hildesheim/7.1/mb.ashx</link>
<description>Hi Paul, Thanks for the offer. I've got a real problem here. My Great Grandfather was born in Hildesheim supposedly. His name was August Humpert. I visited the Humperts there when I was in the army in 1962. There was Tanta Emma Humpert, her daughter , Ann Marie Von Werlhof (Humpert), and her husband , Dr. Karl von Werlhof. I visited with them at their small horse farm in Rodewald, and met with them several times over the years. Unfortunately, All of them are gone now, and there was no children to carry on the name. To make a long story short, I hired a Professor from the University of Goettingen to help me look for a line of current Humperts that I was related to. She found a large grouping of people bearing the name HUMPERT in Meschede/Bestwig. I contacted each of them, and I'm sure we are related but I can't find the smoking gun from Hildesheim to there. My GGrandfather was born around 1846, and came over to the states when he was 21. supposedly he left right before they were going to send him to the seminary. I would have also left. He married a German American Girl, and our current family has many of the Humpert relations here in Central California. Two of the people from Meschede have sent me their family trees, and there are several August Humperts , but not the right one. I have a post card that was sent from one of the Meschede Humperts to the Humperts in Hildesheim , and on the front of the card is a farm house with people standing in front of it. It's really old. Amazintgly enough, the farm still exists today, and the picture of the old farm from long ago , is now a print which is hanging in the Horst Humepert family den. They also own a Gasthaus and restaurant. Needless to say, I'm at my wits end to figure this out. I've sent inquiries to the Stadt meister , and others in Hildesheim, but haven't even generated a response. I saw your comments, and was wondering if this situation falls into your area of research. Personal Regards, Steve Shervey, Placerville, California. &lt;a href="mailto://Steveshervey@allstate.com"&gt;Steveshervey@allstate.com&lt;/a&gt;</description>
