Dear Claire, I am the grandaughter of the late Ernest HIlditch who was from the macclesfield area but moved tho Congleton when he married Clarice Mc Cleavy. I know he came from a large family, one of which was his brother who was an ambulance driver. Unfortunatly I only know a little about the HIlditch family from what my grandmother had told me before she passed away last year. The HIlditch name has now expanded in Congleton, there are currently 22 of my HIlditch family living in the town. If you would like to know more then I am more than willing to help, as I am also eager to find out more information about our local family history. Hope to hear from you soon.
