I would be interested in further communication with you; my maiden nane was Hildreth and I am descendant of Thomas Hildreth who was in Southampton, New York, USA by the early 1640's. I also did quite extensive research on my line.

There are four known Hildreth males who came to the US from England but not too much is known about the early 2 as they were dissenters.

Re: Searching for Birth Family

There are 2 main branches of the Hildreth family, one in New England, the 2nd in Long Island (New York) with a 3rd in New Jersey. Many myths are floating around about the two main branches, New England line goes back to a Richard Hildreth, Long Island goes back to a Thomas Hildreth.

The geneologist for the family is Richard Hildreth and you can find him by going to the family website, just google for "Hildreth Family Association".

It would be very useful to include whatever else you can about your mother and her ancestry.

Thanks for the reply. At least I know that I didn't dream up John & Mary Lamkin Hildreth. And the addition of their children is great. was there a male in the family? I just found the 1880 census of Milam Co where they are listed, but she is listed as Alice with child, Audice C. Then 1900 is listed in Dallas Co. Allie Hildreth with a daughter Ollie, so you see ever little bit of information helps.
Thank you so much.
reply to martha.duke@gmail.com

I am most interested in this family as Mary Lamkin was the daughter of my great grand father by his first wife. I thought all his children of the first marriage died young until I found a Quit Claim Deed from her in Comanche, TX which said that they lived in Milam Co. I would appreciate any information that you can tell me about this family.
Martha Duke
940-382-8829

I am a Hildreth by marriage. I started researching the Hildreth name about 15 years or more ago and have an extensive family history. My husband's Hildreth side started one of the lines in NY by way of Sylvester (b.1790), son of Edward (b.1766 in NH). I would be happy to share any information I have with you.

It's interesting to note (if I remember reading correctly)that you have Ganoung as a family name too. My mother is a "Ganong" from NY.

Judy Hildreh
Naples, FL
I am descended from Seth Widner also. His daughter Maria was my g-g-grandmother. The 1900 US Census Monon (town), White County, Indiana, dated 7 June 1900 lists Mariah Widner, head, age 66, b. Jun 1833, bp OH, father b. OH, mother b. VA, Widowed, 9 births/6 living children; Leonard Widner, son, age 23, b. Apr 1877, bp IN, father b. OH, mother b. OH, day laborer. I have no exact date for Seth's death. He is in the 1880 Beaver Township, Pulaski County, Indiana Census with Mariah, and 9 children. Daughter Maria Widner married William Shelhart 12 Mar 1878 Pulaski County, Indiana. I have lots of information and am willing to share. My email is wjswart@netnitco.net.

I must have been asleep when I wrote my message on October 29th. My ggrandfather Henry J. Hildreth was married to Adeline E. Thomas in Michigan. They had several children and his brother had several children and they named their children: Edward, Harold, Henry (Hank), William Dorrance or Dorrance William, Delbert, Robert, George, Guy, Elgin, Fred T., Elsie and Eva (Evelyn) and Gladys. One set of each were born in Sandpoint, Idaho and the rest to my knowledge were born in Michigan or New York. Oh, Henry and Adeline also had a daughter Chloe, who is buried in Michingan. Any one familiar with these families of Hildreths?

Searching for any info on Hildreths in Southwest Ohio (Butler and Hamilton Countines). My grandmother recalls her grandmother's maiden name as "Hilderbreth", so this is a bit of a reach. Laura Elizabeth Hildreth was born sometime around 1850. Married John William Dietz in Butler County sometime before 1875. Lived in Astoria, Jacktown.

Any leads would be appreciated.

I believe this is my great great grandfather, Abijah Edwin Hildreth (1809-1882). I would be interested not only in this picture, but of the other men/women. Abijah & his wife, Eliza had ten children & lived in eastern Massachusetts.

Thanks! I hadn't seen this particular photo before & I have no idea who the other people are (& I'm very sure they are not related to my great great grandfather). I'm not sure how his photo ended up in a box from a seller in Maine, but I'm glad I found it... well actually you found it, so I'm happy you posted the query. We have tons of information about my family, The "Mrs. Geo E. Saunders" written on the back is his daughter Beth. Do you sell these?
Again, thank you so much.

A Hildreth Mystery

I have found Jeremiah Hildreth in Rochester,NY in 1850 as a boat builder. Working for him were Thomas and Oramond Hildreth. Are they his sons? Thomas and Oramond moved to East Aurora, NY and Jeremiah ended up in Corunna, Michigan. Thomas was my great, great grandfather but I can't prove who his father was. Any info would be a help. Jeremiah is listed in one reference as coming from Long Island, NY. He was born in 1803.

Maria (Lambert) (Mack) Hildreth; connection to Florence Adell (Hart) Mott ?

I just received information from obits on the Florence Adell Mott I have been chasing for years and find that she was born Feb 1855 in NY to Truman A. Hart and wife Esther E. (---). Florence md. William H. Mott ca 1881 and they had a son Truman A. Mott.
My question about Florence is this: what was her connection to a Maria (Lambert ) (Mack) Hildreth? In the will of Maria who died 1888 she left $50.00 to Florence Adell Mott, no relationship mentioned as was done with the others to whom she made provisions. Somewhere in my Mack/Almy ancestry there is a known but unknown Mott family connection but it continues eludes the two of us who have some photos and other items that prove there is a connection but we just cannot find it. Also, the middle name Adell has been used by others who were known Mack descendants connected to my line/ancestry.

Am hoping someone can finally solve this mystery....
