Hi
All I know is my HILEMAN was Mary Ann HILEMAN or HILLMAN. She was born in Armstrong Co in 1828. She married Robert Alexander COOK and they lived in Green Co., PA. Family lore has it that she was an Indian (research indicates that the Susquannok lived in Armstrong Co before fleeing white settlers) and was brought down river by her brother. The other story is that Grandpa Cook stole her from her tribe. Heaven only knows as these family stories have a tendancy to change over the years. We can only assume that she was adopted or taken in by the HILEMAN family 'or' that perhaps she was 1/2 indian with her father being the HILEMAN. Her death certificate does not list any parents.
She is definately my brick wall and I have a feeling that I may never get further back on her side. If you have any info, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Patty
