I'm also descended from Mary Ann Hileman through her daughter Margaret (Peggy) Jane Cook Henry. Peggy's daughter, Amanda (Maggie) Margaret Henry Swann Is my great grandmother.

We've also heard that Peggy's mom was Native American, but didn't know her name til recently (I'm newly involved in tracing family history). From your description, I bet my mom has the same photo that you have. We know nothing about Mary Ann- like I said, we didn't even know her name-except for the family lore of her being a Native American. I'm curious to know if you've found anymore information and if you would like to exchange info. My grandmother, Peggy's granddaughter, is still living. She may remember some things, though the information may be sketchy. I don't think she ever knew the whole story, either. I'll have to interview her.
