I am william frederick evans, son of bonnie delee hilfiker evans and hearold eugene evans. I have an older brother named larry eugene and a younger sister named tina marie evans mckamie. I am currently building my tree line on ancestry.com and am collaborating with sue hilfiker for help to complete my mothers' side of the family. I have finished my wifes' fathers' tree all the way to adam so I would be thrilled to complete this tree along with my fathers' side. It seems that the males recordings are more detailed than their wives'. I also have been on family.com but do not know how to transfer the already growing tree info from ancestry.com to that site. I am looking forward to corresponding to my relatives, and completing my total tree line.

Mary Jane Hilfiger m. Charles Shidell from PA

Hello........My name is Linda Shidell, and my husband is Charles. Mary Hilfiger was my husband's GGGrandmother. I have some information on her, including a picture. She married Charles Shidell born in Germany ca. 1839. After coming to the United States, the Shidell family lived in Cranberry, PA. Charles married Mary Jane Hilfiger. They had six children: Frank b. 4/26/1876 Butler, PA; William, b. about 1877, PA; Agnes b. 3/11/1881 NY; Annie (no info on birth); Frederick Charles (husband's Grandfather) b. 5/21/1886 Bolivar, NY; and Mary Maude b. 8/11/1889 Elmira, NY. Mary died April 8, 1911 in Elm Grove, WVA. She was living with her daughter Mary Maude Shidell and her sister-in-law Lena (Shidell) Dusch. Her husband Charles had passed away sometime around the turn of the century. We have no record of his death or where he is buried. According to Mary's obituary, she was in her 66th year, and had died after a lengthy illness. Mary is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Elm Grove,WVA. There is no grave marker. I'd like to know who Mary Jane Hilfiger's father was and where she is from exactly. I saw from someone's research on ancestry.com that she was from Bradford, PA. I know that she is listed in the 1880 Federal Census as being there with her husband Charles, and their children. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has information on this family, and can help me make a connection. Thanks..........Linda

Hilfiker Roots

For general information: Names as Hilficker, Hillfiker or Hilfiger are versions of the origin name Hilfiker
There are several branches of the Hilfiker family in Switzerland.
In Switzerland there's a system called "citicen place" ( sorry, my English isn't up to date).
If you know this citicen place, it's much easier to find your roots.
I know the following main citicen places:
Boswil, Safenwil, Kölliken (all of them situated in the Kanton (=county)of Aargau.
I know something about the Hilfiker from Boswil going back to 1486, wich is probably the root of all Hilfiker.

Samuel's father was Georg Hilfiker and mother Anna Maria Luber. Georg's father was Hans Jakob Hilfiker and mother Verena Suter. This info is not my research but my late 2nd cousin, Earl Hilfiker. I can't verify a thing, this is what I have in front of me. Bernhard's brothers were; Rudolf 1783, Samuel 1785, Johannes 1788 and sisters Elizabeth 1790 and Maria 1798. Hope it helps.

Dear Sandra, I have some information on the castle in the village of Hilfikon, Switzerland. My Dad's cousin, Earl Hilfiker did extensive research in Switzerland on the family. Last paragraph states: "After the loss of the court glory in 1798, the von Rolls sold the castle which changed hands several times in the 19th century and in 1907 became the property of the Nabholz-von Grabow family from Zurich. In most recent times, a landing strip was added near the castle by Major Nabholz-von grabow, which has already achieved a meaningful place in the air traffic of Switzerland". Hope this helps.
