I have been unable to trace the name back from anywhere. I am sure it is a jewish name but other than that, I have had no luck. It is mentioned in a film as the name of a German jewish girl and someone once said that it is originally russian and spelled with a G as in Gilfman. But I must admit, I have a large family and I have put my research on hold for awhile. Sorry, Jan
