I am a Hilgenberg from Bridgeport NY. Don't have much background on the family. My grandfather was William Kimber Hilgenberg, and the only siblings I know of were Fredrick, and Gerald, although I do know there were sisters also.

I have a Edward A V Hilgenberg in my family tree. I don't know much about him but was told he came from Germany or Prussia. In 1841 he married my gg grandmother Barbara Gates 1825-1880. I would assume that he came to America around 1840. They had 1 daughter my great grandmother, Minerva 1842-1915. They lived in Belmont Co., OH. She married Samuel Thomas in 1862 and they moved to Monroe Co., OH. Their families lived in Monroe Co. with the exception of one son, he lived in Belmont Co.
I have a picture (tin type) of Edward in a military uniform. I ask someone that studies the military and this the info he gave me.
( It appears that Herr Hilgenberg was serving in the Prussian Army, the uniform is reminiscent of later German uniforms from the late 19th century. I do not think that he served in the Civil War, unless he was involved in the uprisings connected with the Revolution of 1848 against Prussian authority.
Do you have anything about him? Thanks

Johann Daniel Hilgengen (Hessian Soldier) was the father of Sallie Hildonberg/Hillenberg. I am searching for official records that prove that Sallie Hildonberg and Jacob Deckard, Jr. were the parents of Adam Deckard (who was the father of John Bea Deckard). Dr. Percy Edward Deckard's book is not official documentation. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

My mother-in-law's family were Hilgenbergs and settled in the Rock Camp area of Lawrence County, Ohio. Her maiden name was Hilgenberg. Her father ( my wife's grand father) was a Carl Hilgenberg.

I was "playing around" and thought I would search the name and found this page. Please send any response to my wife (she can be much more specific than I can) at carpenters5@adelphia.net

We hope to hear from you.

Info on Edward A.V. Hilgenberg from OHIO

Does anyone have any info on this man. He is my gg grandfather. He came from Germany/Prussia area and married Barbara Gates in 1841. Barbara was born in 1825. They lived in Belmont Co. Ohio and had one daughter Minerva born in 1842. Barbara was married possibly before and after being married to Hilgenberg. Other marriages were to Trigg, Crist, Hendershot and possibly Gillispie.
Edward Hilgenberg was also in the military in Germany/Prussia. I have a picture of him and was told the uniform was not American. Also he could have had a brother in the south that, for what reason I don't know, lost a plantation and everything he had. If anyone has Edward in their genelogy, please let me know. I just recently found out his first name.

Do not have any addresses of anyone still living over there. The towns involved are kassel, heinebach, where my fathers brothers all operated a butcher shop along with i believe a sister anna leeza. believe the shop has been in business all this time up until a few years ago.
Also melsungen and fulda. there is someone in fulda under the name of willie who i believe was another brother of my father who operated a soda bottling company called fulda bottling. he has a son named wolfgang who should still be alive. in melsungen there should be a gal named Leezal and a daughter named kareen. let me know why my messages do not get to you? marie
