Their oldest child was born 1853 in Illinois, so I figure they immigrated prior to that. I haven't found either of them on ship's passenger lists, either together or seperately.
Kenneth
My grandfather was Herman Joseph Hilger. Married Frances Louise Erker. His fathers name was Joseph Hilger. As the story goes Joseph and a cousin, Thomas came to the US and were living in WI for a while before they came to Kansas. They lived in a doug-out home until Thomas married, then my great grandfather moved out but still helped Thomas. They settled in Sedgwick Co or Reno Co. KS near St. Marks. Joseph married Dorthia Bunck from Wisconsin, her father was John Bunck, he had lived in Bround Co. KS until moving southwest again. Joseph was very active in school affairs and it is said he planted most of the hedge rows and orchards in Sedgwich and Reno Counties of Kansas. Dorthia's mother was of native american indian. If you will give me some place I could fax you some information about the Hilger family I would be glad to do so. My mother was Anna Catherine Hilger, she married Clay Christopher Schwind. I have five brothers. I have information of the Hilger family back to 1746, Senscheid, Germany. This information is from the notes I received from E.K. Ramsey, July 1983. Because of so many wars the town of Senscheild does not exist any longer. I will be most happy to share what I have with you. Can you tell me if a Genealogy book has been written on the Hilger family? I also have many pictures. I have a picture of each of the first families of the Erkers and Hilgers who came to the United States. I will look forward to hearing from you. My e-mail address is vgouvion@hotmail.com and my mailing address is P.O. Box 416, St. Paul, KS 66771. PH# is 620-449-2559 I also have a copy of the Hilger coat of arms.

Charles Hilger - 1914 - St. Louis MO

I found a wedding announcement in my grandmother's scrap book. It says that Charles Hilger's daughter, Magenta Hilger, married William Bonn on Dec 8, 1914 in St. Louis, MO. I also know that Magenta Hilger graduated from McKinley High School (St. Louis, MO) on 1/27/1911. The graduating class announcement was also in the scrapbook. Magenta must have been friends with my grandmother. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll scan the info and e-mail.
