I am a descendant of the Hilgers, and yes, there is a Khelm, Germany. My 2nd grest-grand father was on of the children that left Germany for the US. Gertrude had to come alone with the children, as her husband was killed for so-called political reasons. I have some pictures, and written memoirs, from family members. Would love to share.
