Barnabus Hill, brother of Moses, was my 3th great grandfather. I can't get back any further than his parents, Robert and Hannah (Sullivan) Hill. Here is an excerpt on Moses from "Unlocking Locke" by Donna Dansby Heminger:

MOSES'HILL
Moses Hill was born in Maysville, Chautauqua County, New
York Sept. 16, 1836 the son of Robert and Hannah (Sullivan)
Hill. At an early age ,he moved to Ohio and at age eighteen
came to Locke, Michigan, settling in Section 33'. He enlisted
in the army at Jackson in the fall of 1861 and served in the
9th Michigan Infantry until ;the close of the war.
On the 1880 Federal census of Locke his name was given as
Alfonso Hill, occupation carpenter and joiner.
