I have a list of the churches where Grandfather Hillard was pastor given to me by another uncle. I will check to see if Lake City is listed. Thank you again.

Re: Robert Hillard - Forest Co. Pa.

I recently found out that Rev. James Eugene Hillard was the minister of the Methodist Church 1900-1905 in Lake City. The Lake City church is in Spring Creek Twp.,Elk County, PA. Prior to 1895 Lake City did not have a church building but during the term (1895-1900)of Rev. T. W. English, the village residents built a Methodist Church.

During the term of Rev. Hillard his son, Archie Hillard, was teaching in the very rural village known as Rainetown/Raintown. He would have been about 19 years old. Rainetown/Raintown was named after John Raine who was the man who owned the saw mill within the deep woods where a small village was created. The village was a few miles distance from Lake City. The reason Archie Hilard was in the area was because his parents were then residents of the same general area.

Looking for any early information about Guy Alexander Hillard, father of Charles Hillard and John Hillard, born in Ireland around 1750-1759 and in early manhood settled in Lancaster Co, PA - later settled in Venango Township in Butler County, PA. It was said he served in the Revolutionary War but I can not verify this. Became a citizen in 1804. According to the Butler County 1901 History, he settled in Venango Township in 1784, but this is also in dispute since I have been told there were no settlers in this area at this time. His wife was Margaret who was said to have lived to be 102 years old. Guy Hillard died in 1827

Are you related to a Robert or George Hillard, or Jim Hillard, or Doug Hillard or Jim Hillard? Or even a Nora (Norah) Hillard Ratliff? Just wondering, Julie

HILLARD, Martha m. George WATTS, looking for Edith daughter of them

Memories my grandmother Anna Bell Ratlff Bratt has is that Martha was a sister of Nora (mother of Anna Belle Ratliff Bratt and lived in Los Angeles, California area. Anna said that they lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a while but they moved to California. Grandma's brother Doug Hillard went to see Edith and Martha. Ella Mae Henry also looked them up when she went to California.

Received Martha Hillard Watts death certificate from California, says she died after 4 days 2 hours after surgery. Something with her colon, then she went into Cardiac Failure. Says she was a Janitress working in an office building. That her husband was George S. Watts and he lived at 5913 Middleton Drive, Huntington Park, California. The certificate says she had been in California for 2 years. Her Social security number 447-12-1473. Says she was a female, Caucasion, Married. It lists her parents as Pete Hillard and Sarah Jane Crane both birthplaces unknown. The informant was her husband George S. Watts. She was 57 years 9 months and 23 days old at the time of her death.

Julie Bratt Luna went to California August of 2004 and took a picture of her headstone. Her husband is buried right beside her and died in 1961.

I have a picture of their daughter standing in a chair when she was under 5 years old. Interested in talking to her or her descendants. Email Julieluna@aol.com.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I knew Donald Hillard and Sally Gallagher as children going to Larksville High School. Donald went to Larksville, not sure about Sally. Donald lived with his family on Schrader St. His mother was Betty Hettesheimer Hillard.

Last time I saw Donald was when he first joined the Marine Corp. and got stationed in San Diego. 1965. He and Sally both were there. Hope they are both fine.

Mary Nauss, sister to Sarah Nauss who married Jacob Hillard, was my great grandmother. Mary married Isaac Sherman. Would you have any information on this family.
My e-mail address is hoofish1@yahoo.com

I am looking for information on Mary Ann Hillard who married Solomon Brook in Chard in 1848. In particular I am trying to confirm her parents. She is listed in various censuses as born in Shepton Beauchamp in 1822/3 but the only such Mary Ann Hillard I can find from that village emigrated to Australia with her husband William Bond - my Mary Ann lived out her life in Somerset (mostly Ashill) and had 6 children (Henry, Sarah, Simon, John, Martha Ann and Harriot. I wondered if she was the MAH born in South Petherton in 1822. Any info would be gratefully received.

Hillard

My grandfather, Oscar William Hillard, was born in 1888 in Tarrant Co., TX . His father died when he was a small child so he didn't even know his first name. There is some speculation that it is "William", but no proof. There were older siblings, but they all died in childhood. Since the 1890 census was destroyed (when he would have appeared with Oscar) and by 1900 Oscar's mother had remarried, I am at a deadend. Is there anyone who had Texas "Hillard" relatives during that time period? If you have any tips to continue my search, I would appreciate the help.

Re: Robert Hillard - Forest Co. Pa.

Margaret, I suspect my e-mail response to your e-mail of 5/31/05 was not received by you. I truly would appreciate learning about your uncle Archie's teaching background. The place where he began his teaching career was, as the old expression goes, "way back in the boondocks." I'm finding out that many of early rural teachers, in their early years of acquiring teaching experiences, moved around to numerous rural villages and communities but during the summer months they would attend classes available at various colleges to earn additional college credits in order to further their careers. It's going to be interesting to find out the movements of Archie Hillard. I've found the name of several other early rural teachers from this area who eventually moved to the area around Erie. It's probably going to be at least next year before I will be able to put the booklet together because I'm finding many wonderful new links to descendants of early teachers who are kindly sharing information and terrific pictures with me. Many of the pictures have never been outside of a family circle. They are usually very precious pictures to those who have been fortunate enough to have them. When the information, and particulary any submitted pictures, are part of the booklet, I will list the name of the individual who shared them with me and their relationship to the teacher. Then again, if the individual who submitted the information and picture wish to remain unnamed then I will not list the name. My e-mail address is ralson@earthlink.net.

I am looking for information on my great grandfather Robert J. Hillard. He was born in Murrinsville Pa. 30 April 1830 and died 6 March 1914. His parents were Guyas Alexander Hillard Jr.and Nancy Jamison. In 1852 in Clarington Pa.he married Mary Ann Powell. They had 12 children, one whom was James Eugene Hillard, my grandfather. James Eugene married Rose May Shawkey in 1882. James and Rose had 9 children, one of whom was Florence Jean, my mother. I would like to exchange information with anyone working on this Hillard line.
