Good morning. John Hilton or Hilton was not born in Bristol, England. he sailed from there to North America. I do have his parents info in another file and I will be posting this info to my genealogy. I had to redo my Computer programming earlier due to some BUGS. It took over 200 years of research to locate the data and I located this data while searching for some other material. John Nutt was in England and may or may not have come to America. This is not certain. I have a 110 page file of John Helton and he was born most likely in Lancashire. i contacted Bristol, England authorities and they told me that he never lived there but sailed from there. I will send you more info, but please send name and address to me at tinym.81@bellaliant.net, Sincerely Yours, Paul Morris Hilton NOTE:- John settled in New Kent Co., VA.

I do have some information relating to that branch of the Hiltons (wills, letters etc). I would love to see what information you have since I have not been able to find a connection between my family and John Hilton's but I suspect there might be one since both families owned plantations a few miles apart.

You can contact me directly at rahilton@juno.com

There are approx. 20 spellings of the name HILTON, HELTYON, HYLTOM. There are so many spellings and most of them are related to each other. I have been researching this data form my own family. There are Helton family members of many States, where the children use different spellings. Some families have as many as 5 spellings. I live in New Brunswick, Canada about 45 minutes from the Maine Border Harvey Station. I will look up this info when time permits. My Email address is tinym.81@bellaliant.net drop me a note at that address. Sincerely Yours, Paul Morris Hilton.
I have a Daniel Hilton in my mothers family. I have found on one of the family trees Daniel Hilton born 15/7/1852 which ties in with my Daniel. I have a marriage certificate for Daniel and Frances Matilda Bentick married 7/11/1876 Daniel born Camden NSW. I have not been able to find his birth or death certificate although I believe his death was 1926 in Botany NSW. I have tied up his parents William and Hannah. I'm also wanting to find out more about Frances his wife. I have found that her brother in law was Charles Lee Edmonds and looks like a sister Eleanor. Any help would be great

I do not have Mabel's last name, but would like to find out what it was. Willard's siblings were: Frank, Florence, Virginia, and Lorainne. If these fit with your info, please feel free to email me. I have more information of these Hiltons.

Hilton/Helton - Early 1900s - Early Co., GA

I finally actually figured out that my Hiltons were the Heltons up through the 1900 census. I've found them back to 1840 census I think, but definately to 1850 census as the Heltons. The whole crew suddenly became the Hiltons in time for the 1910 census. They all lived in Rock Hill, Early Co., Georgia about 9 miles from Blakely, Early Co., Georgia.

James Helton (b ~1808) m. Ellender
son George F Helton (b. 1851-1853) m Mattie Huff
son John R Helton (b. 1877) m. Lula Jane Lasseter
dtr Lula Maggie Helton (b. 1899) was a Hilton by the time she married John Vernon Beatty

In the 1900 census, they were living in a district that someone wrote "including Hilton town" on but were still listed as Heltons. By the 1910 census, Hiltons.

Is anyone else looking at this family?
Maine families, esp. David McNEAR and Maria HILTON couple

Hello,

I only have time for a brief message this morning:

When I looked at the 1880 census for Charles and Amelia (RICE) McNEAR / MacNEAR, I saw 2 ladies with the HILTON name living with them. When I searched for Charles McNEAR's parents on-line last week, one researcher said his parents were David McNEAR and Maria HILTON in Lincoln County, Maine. When I looked at the actualy census page, I saw that she was Mrs. Elizabeth HILTON, a widow. So, she was probably a sister-in-law.

Charles and Amelia McNEAR later lived in Medford, MA, and Amelia was the older sister of my gr-gr-grandfather, Charles RICE, both of Lubec, Maine. It took me a long time to find out that my gr-gr-grandfather was buried with his sister and brothre-in-law in Medford, MA. (After he
separated from his wife, Adelaide, ~1879, I don't know where he lived, but he eventually became a live-in gardener for a mansion in Milton, MA. ~1915 he went to live with his McNEAR nephew in Ashland, MA, and that is where he died.

I'm interested in finding out if any descendant of Charles and Amelia McNEAR and their 4 sons have a picture of Charles RICE. No one in my family knows what he looks like. We do have a picture of his EX, Adelaide, and their 2 daughters, Mrs. Louise KIDDER, and Miss Edith RICE.

When I took a quick look at the archives of this Board, I saw several, old messages which mention Lincoln Co., ME. I'll look at them later in the day.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

FYI:

Charles H.
I have info on John Hilton WHO came from England to VA. in 1655-1665 and he would have been about 9 years old and worked for a Mr. Nutt for approx 4 years to pay off his travel expense. There are 110 pages of data in the Genealogy of John Hilton. I also have a file of 56,000 + names of the Hylton, Helton, Hilton Families of Virginia.
If any of you would find thes helpful, let me know and I will make a DVD Copy for you. My Hilton, Helton, Hylton and approx. 20 spellings in all of our name is rather large and goes back to the PICTS and CELTS. I will share any part of this data with you. LOL, PAUL MORRIS HILTON.

I'm looking for a Hilton family that were said to be cousins who took in my great grandfather, John Joseph Threat upon his mother's death. John Joseph Threat born 12 Dec 1864 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Married Mary Rachel Penninger 2 Oct 1887 in Courthouse of Charleston County, South Carolina. He died 17 Feb 1936 in Tokio, Arkansas.

His daughter passed down the family story that his mother Elizabeth Wolf of Ireland married a Charlie Sikes. He died in the Civil War. She then married a Threat from the area, he died in the war as well. She then married his brother John Threat who also died during the war, while she was expecting my ggrandfather, John Joseph Threat. Elizabeth died shortly after leaving him to be raised with cousins by the name Hilton.

Now, that is remarkable. What a story! I find it very interesting on the Threatt line. My ledger website is http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~arantledger. I have not had any response from this line as of yet. However, your Threatt line is quite interesting. My John Arant had a step-daughter, Margaret "Emmeline" Brigman Arant. She married John W. Threat who died in the Civil War. He is buried at Zoar Methodist church on the stateline in Chesterfield Co, Sc. There are many Threatt in my ledger. I know yours must be connected. However, I can't understand about the Hinton/Hilton connection. Why would they take him in rather than the other Threatts.
Please keep in contact if you find anything out on the connections. Promise. I will keep your on my list as well.
Julie

Hi
It is good to hear from someone who may be a relative.

My great grandfather Thomas Hilton (born 1857 in Atherton, Lancashire) went to America, we think, twice - once in 1882/3 and returned to England in about 1885/6. He then went back to the USA in 1888/89. I believe he may have married in the USA, but we know that had his son Frank in Alabama in 1890/91.
He returned to England in late 1891 or early 1892 and stayed here having 2 more sons - Edward & Samuel (he died in 1901 aged 7 yrs).
Thomas's son William we think was born in England (Atherton, Lancashire) in about 1879/80, but I haven't managed to find a birth certificate yet. We know that Thomas was in England for the 1881 census, still living with his mother Mary & his brother Joseph.
We think that Joseph may have come to America with him in 1882/3 and perhaps stayed there.
Frank may have returned to the USA permenantly after 1911 when he finished his apprenticeship as a fitter.

I hope that we have a connection, if you need any further info just let me know.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Yvonne Ansell

Hiya,
The only things I have on Jonathon are his two Marriage certificates. On the first one he married Eliza Yoxall 1884 In Knutton, Staffs His father on that certificate is George Hilton, A Collier. and on the second he married Hannah Hunter 1918 in Hull east Yorkshire, father on that one is George Hilton (diceased)Labourer. I have had some ancestry members say George was born Ireland, but unfortunately it hasnt been sourced. I do have a death for Jonathon which is 4 April 1936 Kingston upon Hull aged 74. It was his son (my grandfather) who registered the death.
