Thank you for responding. I had forgotten I had made the post.

At the time I posted this thread my father had recieved his adoption records from the state of Tennesee and we finally had names and places but that was all. Since then we have made contact with his mother's (Peggy Jean Middleton) children.

I am still very much intrested in learning about family history and all.

Thanks again,

Christina Lonien
Hime from Clifton, TN

I am searching for information on a family that once resided in Clifton, TN. There was a Jessie Hime who married Ossie Cupp in abt 1943. He had a step daughter named Peggy J Middleton and I believe he had a daughter with Ossie that was born about 1946. If anyone has any information regarding this family that would be a great help! We just found out we're related to them!

Looking for information on William's parents, noted by family that they are Percy Hime and Elizabeth Keller-Hime. William was born on 9/3/1875 (Newport, PA), not sure which Newport-Perry County or Lawrence and died on 4/15/1939 St. Paul, MN. I am not finding anything on them in the ancestry search. This information came from William's death certificate. If anyone has information on this family it would be greatly appreciated. Have been at a roadblock for sometime now.

Hi, it seems like all of us run into deadends with the Hime family! William Hime was my dad's (Robert)grandfather he was born and died in Pennsylvania--(He had a son named John (my grandfather) who married Sarah Elizabeth Shelly and moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio) that's all I know, don't know his parents name. He was divorced when he died. Probably around 1870 something--pretty vague I know - any help?

What is your line of descent from William?

William Himes could be the son of John William Heim and Anna Barbara Hetrick who emigrated with their children to the Shannondale/Red Bank area from Northumberland County. But the William Himes buried in the Lutheran Cemetery at Shannondale, according to his tombstone, was b. 29 Jan 1807 and d. 10 Aug 1873 (age 66y, 6m, 12d). However, William Himes, the son of William & Barbara Heim, appears to have been b. 13 Jan 1818.

Or possibly neither of these your ancestor?

Heim, Heym, Himes, Hime surname

I found this in Ancestry.com ...
Full Context of Dictionary of Jewish Surnames in Russian Empire.

The first bearer of it added to his father's surname Zak (also see Zak) the word 'heym' [Hebrew] 'they (are)' (Rabinovich, 314; Sackheim,3).

It is possible that the traditional derivation of 'heym' from Hebrew is really a later reinterpretation, and this element might be of other origin: 'Heim' [German]home, 'Heym' [Yiddish]house, family.

The original Hebrew form of this given name is Zkharijoh (2Kings 14:29). Zak (common in Vilna, Drinsk, Slonim, Starokonst, Ovruch, Mogilev-Pod, Gajsin) R: abbreviation of 'Zerae Qoydesh' [Hebrew] holy seed {Zak - Zakovskij, Zakman, Zakov, Zakovich,Zaks (Saks), Zakshtejn, Zakson (Sakson), Zaksun, Zakzun} The Eastern European family having this name arose in the 17th century. The first bearers were 3 sons of rabbi Israel from the townlet Ruzhany ('rozinoy' in Yiddish)(near Slonim), who was martyred in 1659 following a blood libel (Sackheim, 3).

I hope this helps.

Sissy Hime Norris
My father's mother was a Hime (the family Bible spells it Heims) Her grandfather was Edward Hime and was born in Germany. Her grandmother was Matilda and was also born in Germany. They had five children:
Otto b. 1859
Edward b.1857
Herman b.1861
Emma b. 1867
Matilda b. 1864

I have been unable to find out when or where they arrived in USA, nor do I know where they died. I do know that they live in both Darke County and Montgomery County in Ohio. I am sure that Otto my great grandfather was born in Dayton and that the others were born in Darke Co. except Edward whom I can only find one reference to in the family records. (The year he was born)

Anyone connected with this family?

Ginger Redman-McConnell
