Joseph Hineman/Heineman, born 1846 PA

Joseph Hineman/Heineman was born about 1846 in PA. He married Martha Frey, dau of Rev. Abram & Mary Fauby. They had the following children: Elmira, Mary, Francis, Lydia, Minerva & Virginia (Jennie), all born between 1864 & 1870. In 1870 Joseph & Martha lived in Marietta, Lancaster County, PA. In 1880 they were living in Philadelphia, PA. I believe they were in Philadelphia in 1900, but have been unable to locate them. I've seen the surname spelled Hineman & Heineman. I also suspect that it appears as Heiman as well. Can anyone help with this family? Thanks!

I am a granddaughter of John Oliver Hineman, son of William Hineman and Mary Jane Winkle. David Hineman was the grand father to John.

My mother was John and Stella Hineman's third daughter.

I would like to share names and information. My mother is somewhat knowledgeable and still living.

The cemetery where William and Mary Jane are buried is on the west side of Broadhead Road between Alliquippa, Pa and Rochester. I have been there and did not think to copy the dates.
Hi,

There are several of us researching the HINEMAN line, of which it appears you are connected. Please contact me at mrstkdsd@yahoo.com and I would be happy to share what I have.

Which child of John Oliver do you descend from? I have 4 daughters listed in my tree: Florence Olive, Phyllis Nina, Charlotte Mae and Selma Adelle (not sure of the spelling on these.)

Cynthia

I have looked through all census records for 1900 and 1930 for Kather Hineman, and other derivative forms of that name. Unfortunately, the 1910 and 1920 census indexes only list head of household and without your grandfather's name, it is awful hard to find anything.

Furthermore, there are lots of versions of the name Hineman: Hinman, Hinneman, Hienman, Heinman, Heineman, etc.

Is your mother/father Francis Hineman, the child you mentioned? If so, can you give me an estimate of her/his birthdate? The more information you can give me, the easier this will be to track down. (Was 1900 for your grandfather, grandmother, or their children?)

Is it possible that your grandfather and grandmother immigrated from Germany after 1930?

Anyway, let me know.

Thanks.
Adam

Hi. My name is Aaron Kneavel. My research indicates I am descended from the Hineman/ McConnell line. My gr,gr grndmo was Catherine Hineman (1794), daughter of John Hineman 1775- Westmoreland Co., Pa per my info.) She married David McConnell. He may have been a son of the John McConnell you mentioned. I have been attempting to learn the names of his parents. Do you have any info? David and Catherine had nine children. I am descended from James McConnell born in Portage Co., Ohio (1833). We believe David may have been born in Crawford Co., Pa (1792). We are not sure if David and Catherine were married in Pa or Ohio. I have surmised in my research that these families must have been friends and traveled together between Pa and Ohio. It is beginning to appear this is correct via info I am gathering from these msg boards. Catherine's brother, John also married a McConnell- Mary M. McConnell. I would like to share info. email me at akneavel@home.com. Thanks.

Hineman and McConnell connection

I am a descendant of Catherine Hineman (1794) who married David McConnell. We believe great, great grandfather David McConnell was from (born?) in Crawford Co., Pa around 1792. We are not certain as to where he and Catherine were married-Pa. or Ohio. David McConnell and Catherine Hineman had nine children many of them born in Portage Co., Ohio (my great grandfather James McConnell was one). They also lived in Trumbull Co., Ohio. They eventually moved to Farmington, WI. Attempting to learn David's parent's names. Catherine father's name was John Hineman, reportedly born in 1775 in Westmoreland Co., Pa. Catherine's brother, John was also married to a McConnell, Mary Magdalene McConnell. Not sure if Mary and great, great grandfather David McConnell were related. Email me at: akneavel@home.com w/any info. Thanks.

I am working on a genealogy for the descendents of GEORGE HINAMON, who immgrated to the US in the 1820's with his wife Margaret Schmidt. Our line spells the name as HINAMON and/or Hinaman. George and Margaret came first to Columbua County PA, before moving west, first to Monroe County Ohio and then finally to Marion County Ohio.

Will share whatever I have on them and their descendents, which is about 75% complete to date

Adam Hineman was my great-great grandfather. He was married to Samantha Dobbins - they were the parents of my great grandfather John Hineman, married to Nancy Sheets. They were the parents of my grandfather Russel Clay Hineman married to Ethel Rossiter Berry, who were the parents of my mother Helen Hineman Bragg. Adam's father came to Noble & Monroe Counties in Ohio around 1835 to homestead from Aleppo Township in Greene County, PA, his father was also named John and John's father was Georg Hinerman (used the r). Adam and his brother Jesse dropped the "r" in the early 1860's. During the early 1860's Adam worked in the oil fields at Maxburg, OH. He and Jesse went to Marietta, OH and joined the Union Army to fight during the Civil War. Adam's wife Samantha did not see him again for 3 years when he returned from the war. Adam Hineman owned a sawmill at Rocky Fort, OH (near Crown City). He also cut hair. John & Sarah Hineman (Adam and Jesse's parents) are buried in the Old Walnut Ridge Cem. on Lincoln Pike Rd. located near Lecta, OH. Adam & his wife Samantha are buried at Stewart Chapel at Rock Fort. I do have more information, but I hope this helps.
