I am looking for anyone that might have any information on a Doctor "Dock" Hines born about 1885 in North Carolina to Washington Hines and wife Melissa Pennington.
Here is what I have so far:
Doctor Hines listed in the home of his parents in the 1900 Grayson, VA census. Listed as Doctor Hines, birth May 1885, born in NC.
In the 1910 census, Dock is listed as a prisoner in the Virginia State Prison in Richmond, listed as Doctor B Hynes, age 26, born NC.
I have the following two notes:
"One Hamilton Clan", P. 153
Gordon Thacker - killed by Dock Hines
From the "Journal of the Senate of the Commonwealth of the Virginia" the following:
"Dock Hines, convicted April, 1909, in circuit court of Wise county, of murder, and sentenced to ten years in Penitentiary. Granted conditional pardon December 17, 1914 on recommendation of superintendent of Penitentiary".
I have a page from the Wise county Court Order Book in 1909 in which Dock Hines appealed his murder conviction on grounds that the jury was not properly advised.
I would really like to have some proof as to who it was the Dock Hines was convicted of murdering. Any other information that might be useful would also be appreciated.
Thanks
