It appears that the Helaman you are researching is the younger brother of Henry, whom I am related through. Both come from Maria "Mary" Sophie Jacobsen/Jensen, the 3rd wife of Ferdinand Friis Hintze.

I have information posted on my website at <http://www.rhetthintze.com/familyhistory/Individuals/Hintze_...; relative to Ferdinand and his father. I have a GEDCOM you can also download there. It is all I have been able to aggregate from my family members.

Hi Rhett
Yes Ander's family is the one I am trying to track. My granddaughter is related to that line. She is a Hintze. Her father is from Utah. And I am told that their history has been researched, but they are not a sharing family when it comes to research. Her great grandfather was Legrand Hintze born in Holliday Utah in 1927, son of Heleman Ferdinand.
I have names of the men on the line but not a whole lot more.
Are you related to this family? Or extending a helping hand? Or need help ? I'll be happy to share what I have on this family.

Have a great day
Carol

We met some Landsmann's this past summer who live in LeSuer, MN who are also members of Henry's family. My mom has more detailed information we will have to connect on later. Maria Landsmann and Christian Hintze had six daughter and one son who survived to adulthood. Their one son, Louis, was my mother Ruth's grandpa. Of the six daughters, 3 never married, one married and had 3-4 children, and the 2 others married and had no children. Great-grandpa Louis had 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. One of the boys was my mom's dad, Ruben. Grandpa Ruben and his siblings are all deceased, but my mom and her brother do have cousins. My parents and I have separt homes in Spring Valley, MN. Is there a way to Email without going through this message board? Ann

Which brother was your great (?) grandpa? She had two older brothers, Fred and Henry, and a younger one I believe was August. They were traveling on the ship with an aunt and uncle who's last name was Lindemann, and they are listed near them on the ship records. My mother and I have just been working on this over the last year. The Lindemann's took the Landsmann children in and brought them to Minnesota.

Just found this web site. It has been very interesting. My maiden name is Hinzte. My father was Howard Hintze his father and mother were Paul and Ida Hintze. My grandfather was married before Ida too. I do not know her name. There were about 12 children. My father was from Souix City SD. He married my mother in Chicago and moved to Oklahoma in the late 60`s. My father had three daughters and an adopted son from a previous marriage.
I am afraid that's not my grandfather, Walter Louis Hintz (his family dropped the e). My mother said his family came down from Canada where my grandfather was born. Walter had 4 children; Richard, Patricia, Robert, and Marjorie. He married Alice Johnson.

Diane,
I am rather confused here. I am Glenn Hintze, from Wausau, WI, but I don't ever remember making a posting on this site. I just happened to randomly stumble across it. I am, however, very interested in learning more about my genealogy and family history. Please email me ASAP at hint0054@umn.edu. Thank you.

HINTZE STEIFF, Cook Cnty, IL late 1800's>present

Augusta HINTZE (b. ? - d. 1909, Cook Cnty, IL) married Julius STEIFF (b. 1844, Poland/Germany - d. 1927, Evanston, Cook Cnty, IL). I believe they were married in Poland, possibly Posen, and then came to the USA about 1870. Julius was one of the first members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles Center, IL and later was an early member of Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Evanston, IL. I think Augusta had family in the area, possibly a brother named Charles. The name may also have been spelled HINZE.

I do not know how many children David Frederich HINTZE (b. 1814, place unknown - d. 1892, IL) had or his wife's name. I am looking for descendants of David's daughter, Auguste HINTZE (b. 1848, Posen? Pommerania? - d. 1909, Cook County, IL) She was married to Julius STEIFF (b.1844, Poland - d. 1927, Cook County, IL). They had 7 known children, Matilda, Augusta, Carl, Maria, Julius, Hanna, and Elise. Julius STEIFF was my grt-grt-uncle.

Auguste may have had a nephew/other relation named Charles G. HINTZE or the alternate spelling of HINZE (b. 1884, IL - d. 1964, IL). Charles was married twice. First to Augusta WEIGT. They had one known child, Harold. Second to Julia NAVROTH. They had one known child, Charles G., jr. Both of Charles wives are distant cousins of mine.

Maria Dorothea Landsmann was born in Tangeln, Prussia on June 8, 1845 and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. She emigrated to the US aboard the ship Donau which left Hamburg on Oct 2, 1856 along with her parents, Christian (sp?) and Marie Landsmann and brothers, Freidrich, Heinrich and August. Her parents died enroute. The family arrived in New York on 15 Nov 1856 and we taken to Spring Valley, MN with their aunt & uncle who also were on board the ship, August & Doroth Linnemann.

That is most of the info I have on this family.
Catharine Hintze was born in Mecklenburg, Germany. All I know about her is that she was born before 1800 and married Johann Joachim Becker. I don't know if she ever came to America, but her children did. They were: Frederick Becker 1821-1905, Wilhelmina Becker 1830-1888, and Carl Becker 1834-1913. They all died in Pulaski County, Indiana. Anyone see a connection?
