Frederic Hipp from Neuwied, Prussia to St. Mary's, Ohio

My husband descends from William Hipp, son of Frederic and Anna Mary Hipp. Frederick C. Hipp was born about 1787 and emigrated with his family in 1844, eventually settling in St. Mary's, Auglaize Co., OH. I hope that someone on this list has further information farther back on this Hipp family in Neuwied.
Also, I have had no success in finding the marriage record of Frederick's younger son Major Charles Isodore Hipp to Mary Mueller/Miller about 1853, probably in Butler Co., OH.
If you have a connection to this Hipp family, I will be very happy to correspond with you about them.

Kathryn Schultz
kathysschultz@earthlink.net

I am very interested in your message, since what you know might help to clear up that your George Hipp in St. Mary's, Auglaize Co., OH was not a son of Frederick C. and Anna M. Hipp, as we had thought might be possible. My husband's mother's family descends from Frederick C. and Anna's son William and from William's son Charles. Another son, Herman, was shown with them as 18 on the 1850 Census in Butler Co., OH, so was born about 1832, at about the same time as the birth of your George about 1834. I have been able to find no further mention of Herman in any Census after that, so he probably died before the 1860 Census. This would also clear up why your George was born in Ohio, according to the 1860 Census, when all of Frederick C.'s children were born in Neuweid, Prussia.
I am particularly interested in whether there might be some relationship farther back between these 2 Hipp families for them to both end up in such a small Ohio community.
Also, have you corresponded with Dick Curtiss of Columbus? I just received some 2001 information that the he had sent to the Auglaize Co. Historical Society about George Hipp and his family.
I will appreciate very much corresponding with you.

Kathryn Schultz
kathysschultz@earthlink.net

I'm sorry, I probably write this in the wrong place at the wrong time with my very bad english. My last name is also Hipp and I'm from Finland. All I know about my fathers family is that my grandfather was also Hipp. I don't know anything more. No one else my family knows either. In Finlad lives 22 people whose name is Hipp those 22 are all my relatives and no one knows anything our names history. I tried to order the book 'The Hipp name in history', but it's quite impossible. I also know that the Hipp name is from Germany.. Does any of you know anything about this name in Europe? Or does anybody know anything else about this name? I am really sorry, that my english is so bad. But I'm despered because I can't find any information about my name.

I have always enjoyed reading everything Donna has put together. Wonderful information. As far as sources go though I'm needing wills/bible records/something (if there ARE any) for the SAR. I believe that I've located bible records with Elijah but nothing connecting Elijah with George.
