The 1795 will of above Lawrence/Lorentz shows a grandson Lawrence, son of son John. Does anyone have info on this Lawrence? And who son John married?
From records at E Vincent Reformed, Johannes, son of Lorentz, was born 10/8/1755, bp 11/2/1755, spons: Johannes Hippel. So grandson Lawrence would be born abt 1775 or later. I haven't found a Lawrence/Lorentz son of a John/Johannes..

Anyone have this line?

I have a sheet that shows that the father of Lorentz/Lawrence was Johannes Hipple (our earliest Pioneer) born 1698 in Holland and that Lorentz/Lawrence (born 28 Jan 1728/29 in Holland) came over with Johannes on the boat GLASCO which landed on 9 Sept. 1738, Walter Stern Master. His children were Lorents 1729-1795 who had as his 1st wife Maria (1729-1795) and 2nd wife was Rosina (1764-1843) . The records I have are that Lorentz/Lawrence died Oct. 3, 1795. He had 11 children 1. Heinrich 5 Jan1753, 2. Jonannes 3 Apr 1755, 3. Jost 26 Oct 1763 4. Frederick 2 July 1763, 5. Conrad, 12 June, 1762, 6, Peter, born 15 June 1769, 7. Elizabeth 8 Feb, 1771, 8. Maria (mary) 9. Lawrence, 10 George 2 Aprill 1786, 11. Jacob 14 July1786, 12 Abraham 1 Jan 1790 and 13 Maria 10 Oct 1793
I have a missing person from Lawrence (#9) and my next ancestor.
1. Can you help and 2. good luck

I thought I had finally found the parent to my Frederick Hipple, who died at the age of 53 years old in 1833 in Union Co. PA. According to your sheet that you have that Frederick was born several years earlier than my Frederick. do you have any other information on your Frederick so I can prove or disprove my Frederick line? Thank you. Any help would be most appreciated.

In regards to the son Lawrence Hipple who married Anna Maria Weidner: They had two additional children, William and Mary. Mary Hipple was born in 1817 in Roxborough. She married William Jackson Lewis in New York City on 2 Jan 1836. Their only child ( William H. Lewis b. 3 Oct 1836) was named after her deceased brother William. I do not have any dates on this brother other than he was deceased by the birthdate of this child. Mary evidently had a severe heart condition and was informed by a physician she could die at any time. When her husband was away from home surveying she did die quickly (7 Apr 1841). It was three days before her husband was notified of her death and therefore he had missed her burial. According to William J. Lewis, she was burried at "some Baptist Church cemetery in New York." She had requested of her husband that if she were to die than she wanted her son to be raised by her sister, Betsy Showaker. He had agreed to this not anticipating that such a thing would happen. However, after her death, he reluctantly took the child to this family. He had close contact with the child until he left for California in 1849. He may have visited with his son when he briefly returned to PA in 1857 for several months. William J. Lewis had become the county Surveyor for Santa Clara County and San Francisco in the 1850's. He died in 1883 in San Francisco. This information was derived from a letter he wrote in Dec 1875 from California to PA to provide genealogical information requested for a family reunion held that year. This letter can be found at the Chester County Historical Society at West Chester, PA.

Thank you for that information. It is odd that Mary wasn't shown as a minor child of Lawrence and Anna Maria when he filed for guardianship of his minor children in 1819:

Lawrence HIPPLE was appointed guardian for his minor children in 1819 in Orphan's Court in Philadelphia, as a legacy was left to them by John THOMAS of Berks Co PA. John THOMAS had left legacies to his uncles' grandchildren and grgrandchildren. Anna Maria WEIDNER was a granddaughter of George WEIDNER, uncle of John THOMAS!

I had found son William born c1822......from another resarcher.

The children born before 1819 were: Elizabeth, Sara, George, Lawrence, Abraham, Harrison W. and Jacob W born 1819. The first 4 were baptized at E Vincent Reformed. So they must have located to Roxborough after son Lawrence was born in 1809. A dau Rosina was born 1825. This leaves room for a son William b 1822, who must have died before 1836, since his sister named her son after him? But I wonder why daughter Mary, b 1817 wasn't shown in the guardianship papers?

Thanks again for this additional information. Poor daughter Mary - a shame she died so young.....

Is there any ancestral information on her husband Wm H LEWIS? Was he from PA? I wonder why they married in NY? At 17, she was pretty young to be going to NY and marry, have a child and die there!

Thanks again....

I thought it would be best to quote the letter that this info came from so the Hipple family can interpret it more closely.
This letter is dated Dec 9, 1875. It is written by William J. Lewis in San Francisco to his sister, Alice Lewis, who resides in Philadelphia. He writes this in response to a request for genealogy information about himself. A family reunion was held in the summer of 1875 of which he could not attend, however a detailed family genealogy was being put together with his sister on the committee to gather this information and eventually put it in print. Any brackets indicate my comments or interpretation of the few difficult areas to read of this letter.
"As the family comprises so many members the information regarding each one must be very condensed, but in writing to thee it is not necessary to crush all the life out of it as is done in school histories. William's mother's name was Mary Hipple. She was born in Roxborough, where her eldest sister Betsy Shonaker still resides in 1817 [?]. Another [?] secondsister Mrs. Sarah Davis and her husband in 1834 and 35 lived and still live in Manayunk. The P. G. and N ailroad passes close by the end of their house, and as there was some excavation required to make a proper crossing my duty required me to make one satisfactory to the adjacent landholders. I thus became acquainted with Mr. Davis and his wife and taking pains to satisfy them they became my friends and I saw her sister whom I recognized as a most beautiful young girl, but I had my hands full of business that I made no particular acquaintance with her. In the summer of 1835 after the opening of the Railroad to Norristown, I found her in the cars going to Philadelphia. We renewed our acquaintance and I escorted her to the place she was going to a relative I believe on 7th Street. The next Sunday she returned to Manayunk. Cousin Isaac Pugh and two of the Kay's (his brothers in law) were at the depot (corner 9th and Spring Garden Sts.) and we went to Manayunk together. I told them I would meet them at the Hotel where they were going and I went with her to her sister Sarah's where I was kindly received. I remained there but a short time and came back to the Hotel. She lived at that time with her mother, grandmother and two younger sisters at John and Besty Shonaker's her birth place. The courtship so begun was followed up. In September I was appointed Engineer of the Brooklyn and Jamaica Railroad Company but kept up a correspondence with her. During the Christmas Hollidays I came to Philadelphia and on my retrn took her with me to New York where January 2, 1836 she became my wife Mary H. Lewis. On Monday October 3 at 8 o clock in the morning our only child William H. Lewis was born. He was named after her brother William Hipple (deceased). On the 7th of April in 1841 she died suddenly of disease of the heart. I was in Philadelphia at the time looking out for business of some kind. I did not receive the information for two or three days in time to attend her funeral but her two brothers did. She was burried in the cemetery grounds of a Baptist Church in New York. A few days before her death, she told me that her physician had informed her that she was liable to die suddenly and she desired that William should be placed under the care of her sister Betsy. I promised that it should be done, but not being acquainted with the nature of her disease I did not think the danger so imminent. The kind words she said to me at what proved our final parting can only be forgotten when my life expires...

Cousin Emmor Kimber went with me to New York and we brought Willaim to his Aunt Betsy's. Mary's mother and grandmother were still there o that the house held four generations. The mother and grandmother have long since gone to the Better Land. Her mother resembled her very much in temperament and although at that time at least 55 years of age and the mother of eight children did not look to be more than 40; so much has maiablilty to do with the preservation of beauty. Mary's brothers and sisters all married and have many children all as far as I know residing in Roxborough Township, so that William had no lack of first-cousins on his mother's side and near his resent home..."

I hope this helps with identifying who's who in this part of the Hipple family.
