I know Jamesport because my wife is McFall. I have a roll top desk made by an Amish craftsman at Jamesport.

How are you related to Joel Hire?

I had neighbors who were Stewarts years ago in McDonald County.

Could we correspond directly by e-mail instead of through Ancestry.com?

Concerning Joel Hire, born May 26,1817: He is my great grand father on my mother's side of the family. He was married to a Mary Meadows when he came to McDonald County Missouri. They had 3 kids. Margaret J., Elizabeth and Sidney. His wife died. He married Mary (Ann ?) (Nellie) Kinslow about 1857. Their first child was Emily Hire, born in 1859. She married Aberaham Tharp (My Uncle Abe).
Joel's parants were Martin and Emilia (Emily)Mildred (Millie) Meador. She was born about 1822 in Smith Co. Tenn.
My Uncle Abe Tharp wrote up my Grand Dad Albert Curtis Hire's death certificate. Albert Curtis is buried in the Mt. Zion Cemetery east of Anderson, Mo. I have a picture of his tombstone. He was born 1865. My mother was his oldesd child, Verna, born June 22, 1890. I can give you alot better data than you have posted. Just let me know if you get this. I am familiar with the James Port Missouri area. Mike Kelly
obit of Clara Lawrence Hire 1892 Palestine, Kosciusko County, IN

This obit was found in an old Bible in an antique store in Vernon, Wilbarger County, TX.

Other obits in Bible, all from same county, were a Hamman, a Moon, and a Hire. Those obits posted under those surname message boards today.

Clara Lawrence, was born at Silver Lake, Ind, Apr 27, 1872, being the youngest of a family of eight children that blessed the union of John Lawrence and Lucinda Leffel. She was married to Ote Hire Sept 26, 1891, with whom she lived in happy union until God called her home. She was converted and united with the M E Church at Silver Lake at the age of 16 and has lived in the fear of the Lord and a life unspotted from the world, "one of whom none ever spoke ill, and in which there was no fault." None knew her but to love her. None saw her but to praise.
Surely her merits will still live in this world while she has gone to the home beyond, where "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, for the Lord which is in the midst of the throne shall lead to living fountains of water and God shall wipe away all tears."
She died Sept 17,1892, aged 20 years, 4 months, and 20 days. She leaves a kind husband, and a father, three brothers and two sisters to mourn her loss to them, but their loss is her gain. The funeral services were conducted by the writer in the Christian church at Palestine. A large congragation of sympathsing friends gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to one so early called to rest.
Can the bonds that make us here
Know ourselves immortal
Drop away like foliage sear,
At life's inner portal?
What is holiest below
Must forever grow.
He who on our earthly path
Bids us help each other -
Who his well beloved hath
Made our elder brother -
Will but clasp the claim of love
Clearer, when we meet above
J.
Try Judith Adams <jwadams@bbs.macnexus.org. Her ancestry includes a chain of at least 4 Leonards, including the Lienert who came from Switzerland in 1737. There is a lot of Hire information in a manuscript by Nellie Raber in the FtWayne IN library (on the Internet). Theirs is a photocopy of a typewritten carbon. Your own private photocopy of their copy costs abut $40.00, but the quality won't be anything to shout about. Nellie emphasizes Lienert, HansRudolph. My line is Lienert, Leonard, Rudolph, Jacob (not yours. This one died in NobleCo IN and is buried in HireCem ElkhartCo IN.). Also, poke around rootsweb.com and ancestry.com. Some wills can be found at rootsweb.com/~wvhardy.
Good luck.
