Surnames: Hislop, Crosbie, Bruce, MacKay
I have been researching the Bruce line from South Leith, nr Edinburgh, for almost six years. During the course of my research, I discovered two very interesting entries in the Marriage Registers for South Leith.
My ancestor, John Bruce, married Isabella MacKay on 28th March 1843.
On the same day, Robert Hislop married Isabella Crosbie.
These two marriages occurred on the same day at the same church. The Banns were both read on 26th March. Both men were seamen, residing at No. 21 Water Lane in Leith. Of the brides, Isabella MacKay lived at 12 King Street, and Isabella Crosbie at 7 King Street.
I am trying to find the link ... does anyone have any ideas??
FYI, the other information for the Hislop entry is:
Isabella, daughter of Thomas Crosbie, Carter in South Leith.
