I am hoping someone on here might have some information on where they are buried. According to 3 other sources, they both died in McDonald twp: Sarah in 1842 and John in 1858. I have found most of the Hites and Hatfield folks from this period, but these two are eluding me.

Hi Sue, I just viewed your posting....I wouldn't be too surprised if we were related. Chances are good if you are from Beaver Falls! I've found cousins that I never knew existed and also my dad's half sister . The names you have mentioned, aren't familliar to me. My father's full name was John Richard Hites (lived most of his life in Beaver Falls) he lived on Steffin Hill. His father's name was Charles Bert Hites, who also had a brother who's name was George Milton Hites, who had many children. There are other siblings who died early on. Let me know if this is of any help, my mother and father were distantly related, so there are a few surnames that are closely related. Hope to hear from you, Marlene

Hi Sue, The only Fred that I have found is a Fred Milton (1911-1964), his mother was Lola Small. Does this fit any of your info? Most family lived in North Beaver Twp.. My cousin Rita is the lady I have to thank for all of the info I have on the Hites side, maybe she's the email you had in Feb...I was unable to find a Tresa in the info I have. I have never lived in PA, but I was born and raised and now reside in MO. My father and mother's families were from Beaver Falls and surrounding area's. FYI, I was born in 1963 just to give you an idea of my age. I hope I was of some help?
I feel that there must be a connection here somewhere?
Marlene
Her obit I believe appeared in the Bloomington Pantagraph newspaper and the Des Moines Iowa Register and Tribune. She is buried in Des Moines, IA

She married Walter Hites on Christmas day 1902 in Independance Ks. Does the obit mention any sisters and
or brothers.

I would be interested in purchasing a copy or the original
if it is available.
Dear Steve,

Interesting to meet "another" Steve Hites!

I was born in Ohio, moved to Colorado at age 5, and up to Alaska at age 18, where I live today. My family goes back like this (rough version):

Me: Steven Gregory Hites, born 1954 (Columbus, Ohio).
My father: James Donald Hites, born 1931, Wooster, Ohio.
His father: Nester G. Hites, born 1903, Wooster, Ohio.
His father: John Hites, born 1876 (?), Ohio. Buried in Wooster.

Anyway, you asked about "Hites families in Ohio" which might be connected, so...here's one, anyway.

Nester had many brothers and sisters. I'll dig into that info next time I speak with my dad.

Best Regards,

Steve Hites (the one in Alaska!)

He had a sister, Ann born about 1807 and a sister Cynthia, born 24 Sep 1812. Cynthia was married to my GGG-Grandfather, Florinda Fowler on 17 Feb 1839. She died 2 Apr 1850 I am descended from Florinda's late second marriage to Jane Duncan. They had one daugher, Cynthia Jane "Jennie" Fowler.
Anthony Hites was from Germany, born abt 1770 and died abt 1820 in Beaver Co. Hester Dillon was the daughter of Moses Dillon. She was from north of Darlington. Try the Little Beaver twp area now part of Lawrence Co. I have more information on the Beaver Co Hites and Fowlers. I am also seeking more information. I would be happy to share more information. Kevin Kelbaugh

Beckey...All of the surnames you have in your query are part of my family tree. Elizabeth Veon was married to my 2g grandfather, Smiley Hites. Their son, Milton Hites (my g grandfather) was married to Cynthia Trover. Cynthia's parents were William Trover and Sylvania Pounds and are my 2 g grandparents as well. Smiley and Elizabeth Veon Hites and William and Sylvania Pounds Trover were in-laws. Does this help?

I also wonder if you know who Jessie's parents were? Any other interesting details you might share would be welcome. I am collecting lots of stories as well as factual info about both sides of our families to pass along to our son someday.

Looking for information on the Hites family from Ottertail Minnesota. My grandfather, Fred Hites, deceased 1949-51,at age 46, married Katherine Farmer. Their Son Steve E Hites, is my father born 8/1928. Fred had several brothers (5-6)? that lived in Ohio and moved out west pre world war II. Never been in touch with them, but had heard through family that they had dropped the "s" to become Hite. Any information on this family would be helpful. Does anyone know Fred Hites family?
Thanks
Steve

I am trying to determine if I am related to Florinda. I am related to Robert and James Fowler, early settlers in Beaver county. According to the 1820 census, James and his wife Hannah had 4 boys and three girls. I have identified one of the boys, Robert B. Fowler, and am now trying to identify the others. Florinda is the right age but I have not found anything about him except the listings in the 1840 and 1850 censuses and the cemetery listing for his wife. Any information is appreciated..

Hi Bob,
I've heard the story also about the connection to a German castle and wonder if it could be Helphenstine/Helfinestine castle. Michael Hites Jr (1811-1864) m Rebecca Helphenstine.

She was grandaughter of Peter Philip HELPHENSTINE (Major in Rev War)1724-1778) who may be linked to Helphenstein castle.
In Germany still remains the ruins of the "Castle Helfenstein" destroyed in 1552. It lies on a
hill, above the town of Geislingen, a town in the land of Wurtemberg, in the Thierbach, 38 miles
by railroad, east-southeast of Stuttgart. George Hatfield, Sr, b abt 1715 is ancestor of "feuding" Hatfields.

Is Peggy Hatfield (wife of Michael Hites, Sr) a dau of John Hatfield ?

This Hatfield link is interesting for me since George Hatfield is my ancestor and Peggy Hatfield is my wife's ancestor. Maybe we are cousins.

Appreciate any feedback

My husband's adoptive father was Louis L. Hites. He was born in New Philadelphia OH in 1918. He joined the Air Force after being in the Army Air Corps in WWII and stayed until he retired as a CMSgt. He passed away in June and as a present to my husband, I would like to find out more about his family. Louis married my husband's mother, Lucille (Lucy) Cassinelli in Sacramento CA in approximately 1948. He adopted my husband, Stewart and his sister, Sharon. There were no other children born to this marriage.

Anyone having any information on this part of our family from Ohio, please contact me directly at vmcalister@sbcglobal.net

Thanks

Valerie Conley Hites

As you know Bob E has been in Europe on a tour for "Jesus Christ Superstar." I don't know the full story yet but he talked with a woman whose Grandmother was a Heitz from Alsace. As unbelievable as it seems he also found what could be a Butterley conection to the Helfinsteins (spelling). He is due back in the states this coming week. He will land in NJ and I've already told his wife we won't release her until he comes down here to get her. So we should have a first hand account or interesting lies about his new discoveries.
