I just found a new online bookstore that gives away FREE SEARCHABLE CD-ROM with the purchase of any family history book, they have over 20,000 titles to choose from, I just tought that I will pass it along to you.

Looking for information on parents of John Hixson b 1756/1759 in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon NJ and d 21 May 1825/1830 in Union Co PA.John's wife was Mary Landis b 23 Jul 1765 and d. 25 May 1845. They had a daughter Elizabeth that married James Wirt.

The Hickson/Hixson/Hixon DNA Project is making progress toward identifying some lines with these surnames.

The project is open to anyone whose paternal line (father's father's father etc.) had the name Hickson, Hixson, or Hixon. These men can take a Y-DNA test. Women (or men whose paternal line is not eligible) would need to recruit a male relative whose paternal line is eligible.

Isaiah Hixson d. 1722 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It is said that Isaiah Hixson was born in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1656; married Ellen Douglas (1670-1703); died at Philadelphia in 1722; and was buried in Quaker Burial Ground, Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Can anyone point me to any official records such as a marriage, death, or burial record? Or a mention in a book?

I'm writing an article on the New England Hixsons. I'd like to mention some other early U.S. Hixsons including Isaiah. He is mentioned on some web sites but I need to be able to cite some official source.

Hi, I kind of came to the same conclusion about my Peter Moses Hixson, so I have not gone past 1821-22 with this family line.

I have done a small amount of research on the Hixson's you speak of. If he is interred in the Cemetery you speak of I'd look for George in Hamilton Co., TN as associated with the Fryar's there.

I have the sons of James Hixson, Sr. as Daniel, Jonathan, William, James, Peter, David, and Thomas. I don't have a Samuel or Jacob as you posted earlier. I would be interested in your research on this family. I show Peter b c1794 in Washington County, Pa. and his death in Gurnsy County Ohio in 1835. Ohio land records show Peter as a resident of Gurnsey Co. in 1817. This does not seem to be your Peter, and I have no other Peters in this line. I don't think Peter Moses is desended from James Hixson, Sr. of North Strabine, Washington, Pa. But I certainly could be wrong.

Can anyone point me to solid documentation on this William's life and death in New Jersey, e.g. church or government records? Or at least a well-documented book or article?

As maintainer of the Hickson/Hixson/Hixon DNA Project, I'm trying to find what is known about him, but most of what I have seen either has no documentation or points to other people's charts. Need something closer to primary sources.

Hi, Cousin. I am a great-grandaughter of William T, through Ethel Hixson. I have tried for years to find the parents of Peter Moses Hixson, the father of William. I have much information on Elizabeth Wass, William's mother, have even seen the Wass family farm in Monroeville, IN. Does anyone out there have any info on Peter Moses' PA origins?

Hi, Bruce. Yes, I am still out here. Still trying to find my Hixson family roots in PA. Haven't found it yet. Peter Moses Hixson, born 1821 or so is from PA. He married in Canton, Ohio ca. 1843. His first child was a girl, Anna, his second, a son named James. I have tried to establish a link to your James, but haven't been able to.

How is your research going? Would love to share.

I stopped using ancestry.com a while back. But I just found an old message on AOL which I rarely use. This sent me to an ancestry.com message which I apparently never answered.So sorry.
Looks like we are connected through Wm T Hixson. I remember visiting Ohio and meeting great uncle Ralph, your grandfather. I remember Aunt Fern. I actually have copies of some of the writings of Wm T Hixson, the printer. If you get should get this by some miracle, we need to trade information if possible. I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON A George Hixson who married a Mary or Molly. He is said to have passed away in 1880, don't know birthdate. He is supposed to be buried in Hixson Cemetery in ARKANSAS. His son George W. Hixson, is my grandfather. I am struggling to figure out who my great grandfather was and about my grandfather. My grandfather, George W. Hixson passed away in 1930, and was supposed to have been born in 1868. My grandfather married Gertie Liles in 1912, my grandmother. I have found a George Hixson married to a Mary with a son George W. Hixson on a Georgia 1870 census, and it said that Mary and George were from Tennessee. I am hoping someone can help.

I am hoping you can help me, I realize that it has been 7 years since your post, but I found it on Rootsweb, and have a question. I noticed that you are from the same line of Hixson's that we are trying to see if we are from. This is my information:

George w. Hixson: great grandfather. We do not know who his parents were, I suspected Joseph H. Hixson and Phoebe Graham, however that George W. Hixson married Temperance Lassater. I have my great grandfather traced back to Franklin County Arkansas, passing away around 1880. I have a Mary Hixson, who is supposed to be my great-grandmother, as a widow on the Franklin County 1880 census: with a George W. Hixson, Mamie(child from another marriage) Ann Jane, James as her children.

I show my great-grandfather on the 1870 census in Franklin Co. Arkansas living as a farmer boarding with a family.

The censuses show my Great-grandfather born in Tennessee, moving to Georgia and then to Arkansas. he is reportedly buried in the Hixson Cemetery in Ozark Arkansas, without a headstone.

Hello, I am not sure if you can help me. I am looking for information on a Margaret Hixson who died on/around 05/26/61, she had a daughter named Nancy Emily Young. Nancy died 06/03/64. I believe that they were in Bethesda Maryland. My father Lloyd Young of Huntington WV, fathered Nancy Emily. I would like to know more about Margaret and Nancy, my father has passed away. my grandmother was sarah janie hixon,i need to know if this is my geatgrandmother ,sarah cooper.my grandmother married a reynolds in hotsprings county she went by janie.she was cherokee very dark skin.you can get alot of info from ann vail richard family tree,william hixon is a direct decendent of our family marion hixon is supposed to be mygreat grandfather,i;m just not sure.i do know my mother closies kin are the hixons,lookup ann vail richards family tree.
