Re: Hliboka Romania

Hi!

My name is Alex. I am a former resident of Hliboka. Presently it is a part Chernivtsy (Czernovitz, Cernauti) oblast (region) of Ukraine. Concerning your question regarding the surnames Maishchuk, Horobetz, Maximiuk. These names are very frequent in Hliboka. The bearers of each of the names make, probably, 15%-20% of the total population of Hliboka, which, to my mind, must reach 10 thousand pers.

For example, some of my former neighbours had this name: Maximiuk Vizitor, Yulian, Maishchuk Grihogy, Mihailo, Veronia. All of them born in the first-second decade of the 20 century, now deceased. I could quote some more names, but could you specify, if you are looking for somebody in particular. In this case I'd contact the people there and try to find out more.

Hoping I shall be in a position to help you

Best regards

Alex
