The Kirkwood correspondent of The Review told of word being received there on October 24, 1900, of the death at Fresno, Calif., of Aaron Hoag, a former well-known resident of that vicinity. He was 76 years of age. In early days he had settled on a farm two miles south of Kirkwood, and at the time of his death the land still belonged to his estate. Later he had moved east to near Coonville, a settlement then near the east line of Tompkins township, living there until his removal to California about 1885. he was a member of the 84th Illinois regiment in the Civil War, and his funeral at Fresno, was conducted by his comrades of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was said to have been largely attended.
