I do not know who Elsbeth's parents are but I can tell you Jacob Meili 1561-1630 gave birth to Hans in Bermensdorf (Near Zurich), Switzerland in 1583. I know Jacob was married before 1583 in Altenberg, Switzerland.I am unsure to whom to whom Jacob married. I have some other information on Hans & Elsbeth if you would like it.

Rudolph Hochstrasser that left Switzerland in 1859,and his father (Rudolph) from Fahrwangen, Switzerland is a very direct descendant. Relatives claim much info exsists on this line.
Jacob Hostrasser/Hochstrasser/Hochstrader

I am researching my grgrgrandfather Jacob Hostrasser who was b. 19 Oct. 1819 in Argon, Switzerland. He came to the US for the gold rush but went back and forth between here and Europe several times. On one of his trips back to the US he met my grgrgrandmother Martha Elizabeth Schaak who was born. 20 Nov. 1833 in Bremerhaven, Germany. They married and settled in Fayette, MS. Jacob severed in Civil war then died in 1868 from TB. I noticed from research that there was a Charle Hochstrasser in Fayette that married a Rosa Rubel--they seem to move to PA. They must be related some way for him to have moved to Fayette. Does anyone out there find a connection here.? One of his sons was named Charles Jacob Hostrasser the other Benjamin Frank . The daughters were Frances, Mary Louise, Caroline, and Sarah. The family moved to Texas after his death. He made my gggrand mother marry his partner because she spoke no english and had 6 children. His partner was Andrew Eckerle. He moved them all to Texas.----then my grandmother divorced him. (supposedly he drank and she was a real prim person) Hope someone can connect with me. Thank you.

You must know something I'm not aware of. I have done research in Stuttgart several times - have not found all that many Hochstrassers. Most appear to be Swiss; in fact the Hochstrasser family I'm researching originated in Switzerland after Thirty Years' War. I have found in US all the Hochstrassers which emigrated from Endingen; still documenting one branch. There are 115 + or - Hochstrassers phone listings. Thanks for your interest.

Anybody who has ever been to Europe will tell you that Hochstrasser is as common there as Smith or Jones are here in the U.S.! Every little township and hamlet has a Hoschstrasser or "High Street"! And it is not that uncommon here either. There are several hundred "Hochstrasser"'s here in NY, PA, ID, OH, IN, IL, CO, NE, GA, CA, WA, NM, & FL. Top that with the tendency to name the kiddies one of five common given names (only to have them not use their given names) and family search really gets fun! Linda

I am tracing only persons who migrated to USA from Endingen, Württemberg, for a book, and only first generation born in NA. The first part delivered last summer to the Bürgermeister and archivist of Endingen. As my work has progressed am adding other villages as I have found large concentrations in several US areas and work may be of value to other researchers. David
