Looking for information regarding the Hocking family. Specifically, John Hocking, born abt. 1822 in Illogan, Cornwall, England. He married Anne M. (unknown) before 1842. Anne was born around 1824 in Illogan as well. I first thought this might be Ann Trezise, but I'm pretty sure it's not according to English census records. They had 6 children when they sailed for America on the Ship "Oregon" from Penzance, England to New York City in 1852. Those six children were Elizabeth (Eliza), Richard, James, John, Mary, William. They settled first in Pennsylvania, had seven more children and then settled in Massachusettes to help build the famous Hoosac Tunnel. I believe most of the children then went West and settled in Nebraska later in the 1800s. If any of this looks familiar please let me know. I especially would like to know what Anne's last name was. I know there are a lot of Hockings from Cornwall, but hopefully, someone knows about this family.
