I am looking for information about Abner Hodge, born approximately 1860/61. On the 1880 census, it shows him living in the household of his brother Archie Hodge, who is married to Mary Sears.

Now - here's the problem. Archie Hodge's father is also named Abner Hodge. Abner Hodge Sr. (b. 1819, d. January 3, 1860) was married at least twice before. His first wife was named Margaret Roberts. They married on January 29, 1839, and they had two sons. Thomas was born June 6, 1842, and Edward was born 1845/1846. Margaret died around 1846 and he married Elba Rose shortly afterward, on May 24, 1846. Elba had Granville, Vernon and Archie before dying on March 29, 1854. So, Elba Rose Hodge cannot be Abner Jr.'s mother, but Archie Hodge claims him as a brother, which indicates that Abner Sr. was married at least one more time. The 1870 census shows Abner Jr. and a Lottie Hodge living in the Pevehouse household. The Pevehouses were related to Margaret Roberts.

I'd appreciate any information on the topic.
