Canadian family tree

There are a few Hodgkiss families in the Toronto area, but we appear to be unrelated.
Interestingly, we live within a few blocks of each other.
My brother Robert James (policeman) and I(David Roy - surgeon), are the sons of William Roy Hodgkiss(physician) b. 1920 and Jean collins b?1925 d 1962. Our grandfather Albert Edward Hodgkiss came to Canada from ? Birmingham England as an orphan d 1953. He was married to Annie Hewitt who died at an early age. He subsequently married her sister Sarah (our grandmother) d 1968.
Apparently our Greatgrand father (Hodgkiss) ran a tavern and was a champion runner? before he died. The trail runs cold at this point.
Does this "ring a bell" with anyone?
