I am researching Hofacker - Huffaker possible kinship and would be pleased to swap information with you. Lester Hofacker was a suggested contact by my German researcher. Our likely nearest common ancestor lives in Altrip, Germany and he has a paper trail to Mutterstadt where he and I (and probably you) had a common ancestor around 1700. We are close to proving the Altrip - Mutterstadt connection and Lester's list of past names might help make the connection. Please share what you can and I will likewise. I would like to correspond with a male Hofacker descendant of Lester for a test that proves kinship.

My researcher in Germany has found a Hofacker in Altrip with paper research back to Mutterstadt to an ancestor possibly or probably common to both spellings.
OberstLeutnant von Hofacker was a true hero, not only for Germany, but also as a shining example of moral courage.

Had he and his fellow conspirators succeeded,10 million lives in Europe would have been spared a violent death.

I personally wish to thank you for your father's sacrifice in his attempt to destroy Nazism and save millions of lives. The world needs more men like Caesar von Hofacker, Claus von Stauffenberg and Fritz-Dietlof Graf von der Schulenburg.

I would love to hear your story someday if that is possible.

Most Respectfully,
Jake F.Creecy
MA Student, Political Science
Florida International University

His daughter! My goodness! Thanks for your response! At first I was interested in trying to see if there was a genealogical connection, but that proved negative. I'm still fascinated with what I've read about his strength and courage during his "trial." I read that his family was split up and wondered if they survived and got back together after the war. I wonder if you, or another sibling, might be publishing your memiors? The story of your survival and reunion would be very interesting. If these are painful memories, I'm sorry to make you recall them, and will respect your privacy. You can certainly contact me via my personal email, if you don't want to post to the bulletin board. With respect, Bob Huffaker

Has anyone got any information on this Luftwaffe officer who was executed as a conspirator in the July 1944 von Stauffenburg assisination attempt on Hitler? My recent studies of the Normandy invasion and Field Marshal Rommel has had his name turn up several times. I believe his family was placed in a concentration camp following his "interogation", but I think a daughter survived the war. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dana

That would be so great! Dana and I lost touch after my pregnancy with my first child. She was going to fly in for the birth and I never heard from her again. A mutual friend received a letter later but w/no return address. We are going to be having a class reunion in May I think and everyone would love to see her or at least hear from her. I on the other hand am dying to know how she is and what has been happening in her life. Thanks so very much for whatever help you can give me!
