Classification: Query
Surnames: Hogan, Cokely
My ggfather Patrick Henry Cokely was born in County Cork 01jan1826 to Patrick Cokely and Catherine Hogan. He came to the US in 1833. According to his naturalization record he arrived 6July1833. Whom he came with is not know. What is known is that when he died (29Jun1897) he was living in Morristown, N.J. He had been there for about 8 months according to his death certificate. This seemed strange since he had lived, married, raised a family and worked in Boston, MA. However his death certificate listed his fathers name as unknown but his mother as Catherine Hogan.
We assumed he had been visiting relatives of his mother. I went to Morristown a couple of years ago and found in the
1896-97 directory the following listings:
Hogan, Johanna, tailoress, h macculloch ave cor Dellart---Hogan,Patrick J. Carpenter - same address and Hogan William, coachman same address.
Can anyone fill in the blanks? What I have been trying to find out is where specifically in County Cork they came from.
TIA, Nancy Fennessey
