Count me among those who are interested in the William HOGE daughter named Joreter.
i have long been puzzled by certain circumstances regarding this Joreter HOGE (married name unknown?) and one certain woman named Jereter Vickery, born 1749, daughter of Marmadule Vickery or Vickory. They both lived within a few miles of each other in Virginia before Marmaduke moved to North Carolina (Rowan County) in what is now Randolph County, NC.
It is my guess that the name Joreter was the predecessor name for Jereter. The Virginian dialect implies that it was translated to Jereter or Jeretta. There were about seven or eight more women named Jereter in various Vickery or Vickrey or Vickory families descended from Marmaduke.
