I have that same info except the Joseph is a James. I have that a James was born in about 1680 whose father was William Hoge.
Here's what confuses me:
If children were being born around 1680, that would mean for some reason, William left Scotland without his wife or children, as he came to America in 1682.

If his wife died, he would have brought them with him.
It doesn't seem to be like him to leave behind a whole family, considering William was supposedly a man of honor and stature.

The Mary and Marcus Hardin marriage is well documented, and I've seen info on Margaret, but can't find much at all on James (b. 1680). That is my brick wall.

Shed any light?
