I too descend from Nicholaas Hogle. Although I then link to his son Edward, I have some primary source documentation on Nicholaas and Catharina as well as "The First Five Hogle Families in America" by John T. Hogle that I could copy pages for you to use as a guide for further information. Please e-mail me at kimberlywalters@comcast.net if you'd like to exchange data. I also know of one of our cousins that does genealogy in the Rensselear area for a reasonable fee that could help you with any primary documentation that you need for Greenbush, including church and cemetery records. Welcome to the family!

I am looking for ancestors of James W. Hogle. James was born on Dec. 7 ca. 1814. In 1840 we find him in Rochester, NY with his bride Mary L. Dixon (they were married in 1840). A brief bio written after James' death in 1876 states James was born in Orleans, VT but all census records show he and Mary were born in NY; I would guess (James) Orleans Co., NY. James and Mary had four children:

Helen (Ella or Ellen) Hogle b: Aug 1844 in New York
m: John Chesebrough in Indiana

Eveline Hogle b: ca 1846 in Ohio
m: ? ? Emmersley Wildman

James Sylvester Hogle b: May 1850 in Ohio
m: Lellia Gordon 1871 in Indiana

Mary Hogle b: Jan or Feb 1860 in Illinois

James and Mary also had a grandson, Harold Saunderson b: 1888 in Ohio.
James and Mary are buried in Portsmouth, MI.

I was hoping someone might have come across these folks and could give me a lead or ideas as to how I might proceed from here.
I checked The First Five ... and had no luck. Thank You.

I have a family tree that was given to me...for John W. Hogle
and he was married to a Jennielind Parker 1868 and they had 4 children, Elnora May, Flora Augusta, Minnie Bell, and Josie Victoria...
I have not been able to determine what happened to Jennielind but
John married Sylvia Scott in 1883 and their 1st child was Guy O. Hogle born 1885 and he was my Grandfather married 1st to Lila Daman, and then 2nd to Mable Daman, her sister, my grandmother. lynda3170@comcast.net

Thank you for replying to my post. I was able to find more information on Frank E. last night. The name of his first wife was Ida Mae Stratton. She died in 1910. The name of his second wife was Mae Dunbar. Frank's parents are George Hogle and Orcelia Shippee. George's father is Jerimiah Hogle. Again thank you for your post.

Terry,

I have looked in The First Five Hogle Families in America and did not find a Frank E born 1881. Do you have his wife's name? I would recommend contacting the author of the above, John T. Hogle at jhtalks@earthlink.net as he may know more.

I have an original carte de visite photograph of “Pamela Ellis Hogle”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in about 1865-70, in Stevens Point (Portage Co.) WI, daughter of Albert Ellis, age 69, a mill owner, and wife Eliza, age 40. In the 1910 census, Pamela was age 62, divorced, and living in Wausau (Marathon Co.) WI.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to the family of Pamela Ellis Hogle, born abt 1840-41.

Wondering if this Jacob Hogle is related to other OH Hogles, particularly those in Knox Co. Jacob was b. in OH abt 1828. Jacob m. Amelia R. Carson December 15, 1857 in Morrow Co. which is right next to Knox. In 1870 and 1880 I believe they were in Allen Co., OH. Also Amelia was going by Rosalie or Rosalia on the census. It also appears that they had no children that lived. Amelia was 34 and 44 respectively, and there were no children listed either time.

My e-mail to reply to is: lshafer@trib.com

Thanks,

Donna

Amelia's (maiden name Disney) name when she married Langdon, was Keigly (not McKegly)and she had a young son named Jacob Morgan Keigly when she married Langdon. My parents knew Jacob's children. Langdon's will is recorded in Knox County Ohio and he is burried there also. He and Amelia had 2 children, Charles Langdon and Harriet Amelia, who was my ggrandmother.

Tom, I was in Knox Co. and looked up Langdon's information. It's not his will recorded there but rather his inventory and estate settlement. I made a copy and will send it to you if you want it. Since he died suddenly, and at a relatively young age, he probably didn't have a will.
It is believed that the son Jacob Morgan mentioned with the other two minor children, was Amelia's son from her 1st marriage, Jacob Keigly. Harriet Amelia and Charles Langdon were the two children of Langdon and Amelia. Harriet A. was my ggrandmother and had 4 children. I have Charles having 4 children also - Dwight, Earl, Betty, and Hattie.
