I have a booklet by David R. HAY, Somerset, PA, 1983, dedicated to Pioneer Simon HAY, b. 18 Apr. 1742, Gerhardsbrunn, Rheinland Palatinate. Simon was son of Johann Michael HÖH & Anna Elisabetha SCHNEIDER. Simon migrated in 1767, with bros. J. Valentine & J. Francis. This booklet says that there was also a brother who had come to America earlier, J. Adam HÖH, b. 12 Feb. 1738. There was a Johann Adam HÖH who arrived 2 Nov. 1752 on the Phoenix, and the signature matches the signature on the will of John Adam of Fairfield Co., OH. The problem is that only those aged sixteen and older were to sign, and the son named above was born in 1738. Of course, he might have signed anyway if he was traveling alone.
My ancestor (John) Adam HÖH / HAY married (Anna) Mary BOYER. Her father (John) Adam BOYER migrated to Pennsylvania and died there before March 1761 (Orphans Court Record), but her mother moved the family to Frederick Co., MD, and, having remarried, left a will there as Rosannah BIGLAR, pr. 1 Nov. 1785. She named dau. Mary HAY, et al. I think Rosannah's husband was Michael BEIGHLER, tanner, of Fredk. Co., MD, will pr. 20 Nov. 1764, naming wf. Rosinah, exx.
Adam HAY / HÖH left a will pr. September term 1803, Fairfield Co., OH, wife Mary & son-in-law Luke INGMAN, exs. He left to all his children, not named, but named youngest sons Jonathan & Peter. He directed that his money be used to buy land, which would indicate that he probably had not been in Ohio very long.
August 5, 1815, recorded March 13, 1816, Jonathan, John, & Rosanna HAYS, Barbary HARLONG/HARTONG/HORTON, Elizabeth & Luke INGMAN, Susannah & Tunis NEWKIRK, Catherine & Thomas SELBY, Eve & Jacob LEATHERS, children & heirs of Adam HAY, late of Fairfield Co., OH, deceased, released to Peter HAY all their interest in property in the hands of Luke INGMAN & Mary HAY, ex. & exx. of sd. Adam HAYS, decd.
My record shows that John Valentine who m. Anna Maria KIEFER died in 1858, but I don't have a reference. Do you have a reference for 28 Nov. 1862 so that I can correct that?
Could you fill in the details for your Johann Adam, son of Johann Simon? I cannot find that combination of father and son in my records.
