I am also looking for information on Martha. Martha and Barnabas were my sixth great grandparents. It would be interesting to find out how and if the Sabin name figures in.
The Mayflower book for descendants of Stephen Hopkins does not mention Sabin at all. It lists her only as Martha Holdridge.

Looking for info on the parents and birth date/location of Martha Holdridge who married Barnabas Paine in 1760 in NY. She may have been born in CT. Her husband and others are buried in Sharon, CT. One undocumented tree lists "Sabin" as an alternate maiden name so wonder if she was the married to a Holdridge prior to her marriage to Barnabas Paine.

Hi, my name is Amy Duryea and my husband is related to the Holdridges. My husband's grandmother was Lilian May Holdridge and she had roughly 25 brother's and sister's. Lilian's parents were Aubie Turner Holdridge and Susanna McCurdy. Aubie Turner Holdridge's parents were John Thomas Holdridge and Sarah Adaline Andrews. I too am looking for all descendants from this line and I am trying to find information regarding the Native American lineage as well. My husband remembers his grandmother (Lilian May Holdridge) looking very native american. If you or anyone else who reads this has any information to share I would greatly appreciate it!!! aimlmcgrml@msn.com

Holdridge, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, UK

I wonder whether anyone else is researching the Holdridge surname in the UK rather than US. My Holdridge family come from the Yorkshire/Lincolnshire border and do not, as far as we can tell, have any links with the ones appearing in London in the 1600s nor the branch that appears to take its name from a place name in Devon.

My GG Grandfather was George Holdridge, born in 1822 in Swinefleet near Goole. His marriage certificate (to Ann Featherby in 1847) gives his father's name as James Holdridge, a farmer. Family tradition has it that two of George's brothers emigrated to the USA in the 1850s so if anyone thinks they might be related to this branch rather than descended from the Cripplegate ones I'd love to hear from you.

I can find no record of a baptism for James Holdridge but as many of my family were involved in Methodism it may be that I need to look elsewhere for my evidence. Likewise I have yet to locate a grave for him.

Any help would be appreciated, much thanks, Heather (nee Holdridge) in North Yorkshire.

I was wondering what it is that makes you believe that this is probably the correct family? I'm always looking for new ideas to follow.

I believe this is Jane Houlditch, daughter of George Houlditch and Jane Finley. Jane L. Houlditch was born in 1830 in S.C. and married Robert Collins. The George Holditch/Houlditch family moved to MS about 1846.

There is more info about the SC origins of George Houlditch on my Holdridge website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~holdridge/.

Here is a transcription of the George Houlditch bible: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~holdridge/...

Jane's brother Sidney named his son Jeff D.

I am trying to find the parents of Deborah Holdridge, b about 1756, location unknown. She married Elisha Chamberlain before 1779. They may have married in Kent, Litchfield County, CT or in Columbia County, NY. I have no sure location for the marriage. I do know their oldest son was born about 1779, so that gives an approximate date for the marriage. Elisha was born in Kent and died in Maryland, Otsego County, New York. I don't know when or where Deborah died either. Any help or hints would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if Richard Holdridge and Deborah Birge had a daughter named Deborah Holdridge? A Deborah Holdridge married Elisha Chamberlain before 1779 (their first child was born about 1779). He may have been living in Kent, Litchfield County, CT or in Columbia County, NY at the time. I have been able to find no information about her, but see that Richard was in the same area at about the same time. It would be nice to be able to connect my Deborah Holdridge to a family.

Carolyn, I do not have info on your Simmons's. However, my 4th GrGrandfather, Felix Holdridge m Deborah Slocum 1802, had a daughter Ana Holdridge Simmons. Felix, Deborah, dau Elizabeth b 1803 and son, Eleazer b 1814 came to MI in 1837. They had a son Warren b 1816 d 1819. I had wondered
if they had more children because of the gaps in years between Elizabeth and Eleazer, who were married and did not come to MI from NY with them. They left Onondaga Co., NY and Royalton, Niagara Co., NY in 1837 and settled in Lenawee Co., MI. The reason I know of Ana Holdridge Simmons is because in Felix's Will, he left a sum of money to Ana Simmons, dau., of Wisconsin. There was no spouses name and no address for Ana. I'm hoping you can make a connection for me. Thanks. Irene

I believe the "Ana" Simmons you mentioned as the daughter of Felix is actually "Ama" and was really Amy. (Earlier in America, there was a phonological process that treated that final letter "a" as the sound of "y", so for example, in Kentucky, a woman named Sarah might be called Sary (and of course there was the nickname Sally). I believe Amy Holdridge married Isaac Simmons in New York. The couple appears in the 1830 and 1840 censuses for Oswego County, NY (variant spelling of Simons/Simonds/Simmonds), there is a record from the later 1840s of a land sale by this couple, and then they moved to Dodge County, Wisconsin for the 1850 census and to neighboring Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin for the 1860 census.

The one I am looking for is Alwilda Lykins, married Caleb Williams between 1910 and 1914. Had a son Conley Williams on Nov 4 0r 5 1914. Alwilda and Caleb divorced sometime between 1915 and 1920 I believe. If you succeeded in finding out anything on Alwilda could you please let me know. Thanks.

I am hoping someone will connect to my line. I am having trouble finding anyone who does. I am looking for information on Mary J. Holdridge's family. Mary married James Madison, probably in Michigan - where they both were born, but I have yet to find a record. She was born Feb 15, 1844 & died Nov 15, 1925 in Kansas City, Jackson Co, MO.Her parents were Richard Holdridge & Julia Unknown. Richard Holdridge was born in New York and moved to Michigan before 1850. In 1850 he is found in Hillsdale CO & 1860 in Lenawee County. After that, I lose him. If there is anyone out there than can help me connect Richard to his parents, or even help out with Mary, I would appreciate it!
Thank You!
Charles Holdridge

Does anyone have a Charles Holdridge who lived in Wood County, Ohio in the 1870 Census? He had a wife, Fanny, formerly Frances aka Fanny SISSON; a male child, age 6, whose name I cannot read, and a daughter, Nellie, age 1 yr. Please contact me if you connect with this family. Thanks. dnawrocik@cfl.rr.com

Frances J. SISSON HOLDRIDGE

She was born to Charles and Lovina SISSON in Pennsylvania on August 13, 1845. Her family moved to OH in 1849. She married Charles Holdridge in Ohio abt 1868 and had a daughter, Nellie Holdridge in 1869. (How this marriage ended, I do not know.) She married Charles F. Yeager about 1876 and had a daughter, Hattie Adelia (Anna) Yeager on September 10, 1877.
Frances (Fannie) died April 22, 1880 in their home on Pearl Street in Lima. She's buried in Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg, OH. I DESPERATELY need to find a death record or some record that the cemetery will accept, because they have her as a MALE. ALL funeral homes that were in Lima in 1880 are gone. I'm hoping someone has a funeral card or newspaper clipping so I can make this right. PLEASE.

Cheryl,
I did the search you told me...and didn't find what you found. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can you copy and paste that and send to me? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Almira Holdridge/Holdredge - Greene, Chenango, NY

I am descended from Almira Holdridge (Holdredge) born about 1816 in NY, married Aaron R. Smith of Greene in 1839, and died perhaps in Greene in 1888. I don't know who her parents were, because I got her maiden name from a family bible record. If this ties in with anybody's research, I would love to connect! Thanks!
