My great grandfather, Vaclav/Vansal Holan came to the US in 1869. He and his family first lived in PA and by 1880 had moved to Nemaha County, Kansas. The 1880 census has his name as Vansal Holland. His death certificate, in 1916, listed his name was Vaclav Holan. I know others are having the same problem with different spellings. His wife's name was Veroneka; his children Joseph, John, Frank, Anna, Terricia, Mary, and Marget. There was also Rasa (his mother?) living with them in 1880.
