Info on Martha B. Robbins, wife of Samuel D. Hollcroft...

Does anyone have information on the parents of Martha B. Robbins born about 1823 IN, died after 1900? She married Samuel D. Hollcroft 1851 in Switzerland Co., IN. She was last recorded as a widow in the 1910 census of Cole Co., MO living with her son Arthur B. Hollcroft. My information is sketchy but shows her migration from Switzerland Co., IN, to Hancock Co., IL to Adair Co., MO to Cole Co., MO. I would really appreciate any information you have available about her ancestry.
Thank you very much...
Art Burkett

extended family seeks to answer 142 years of questions

hi. word of mouth has it that my 2G grandpa and his 2 brothers were traveling from somewhere up north with their mom to AR in abt 1870. my 3G grandma died not long after arriving and was hallucinogenic when getting here. my 2G grandpa is supposedly the middle child and the oldest was 7. i located my 2g grandpa in the 1880 census for randolph co. it listed his birth as being in OH. his dad's birth was listed as being in wales. 2G grandpa is named John and in 1880 it was Holcroft, his older brother being Greeley, his younger Andrew. I found in the 1910 randolph co census that andrew did not return from OH until 1884 but regardless of the inconsistency there is a definate OH link. My question is if anyone has something in their files about a missing family with these characteristics. Sometime between 1880 and 1890 the surname changed to Haulcroft on our line. i thank you for your reading this.

Re: John Hollcroft

I was curious as to whether Lisander Hollcroft (died in Lone Wolfe, Oklahoma in the early 1900's) is a descendent of the John Hollcroft mentioned in this posting.

Lisander Hollcroft was the father of my great-grandfather's half-brother, Norman Fort Hollcroft, and half-sister, Vena Aletha Hollcroft. I have been able to locate some of Norman's children in California, and also came in contact with Charles Hollcroft, also from CA. Charles was unsure if Norman was any relation to him or not.

My great-great grandmother, Rosa Anna Bell, had been married to my great-great grandfather, Jacob Thomas Chancellor, who died of typhoid fever when my great-grandfather, Alonzo Martin Chancellor was a very young child, remarried to Lisander Hollcroft and came to Oklahoma with him. Both Norman Fort and Vena Aletha were born in Noble, Oklahoma in the early 1900's (1904 and 1906, respectively), prior to Oklahoma becoming a state. I believe Lisander died in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma in 1911, but would have to doublecheck my records to see.

I am curious to know if Lisander is a descendent of John Hollcroft, and exactly how he fits in that family tree.

Thanks!
Misti
