Alois was b. abt.1834 in Mothern, Seltz, Wissmbrg, A-L, B-R, France. His wife, Elisabeth Scherer was born abt. 1837 in Germany.

They married in 1856, New London, ON, Canada and had abt. 10 children.

I am also researching Holle ancestors that came from Alsace-Lorraine, spent some time in Canada, and ended up in Newark, NJ. My great-grandmother, Mary Holle, may be related. If you check out the 1880 census for NJ, you will find the family misspelled as "Holli." I am pretty sure it is them because my great- grandmother is living in the same residence under her married name Mary Hatfield. You will see the family on Spruce St. in Newark, NJ. I am wondering if your "Alois" Holle might not be the Elias Holli in the census. The wife is also Elizabeth. There is also a daughter "Lizzi" born 1864. The only reason I'm responding is that my family spelt our name the same way: Holle'.

My gggrandfather, Adam Holle', came from Germany to Jamaica, W.I. I haven't seen too many Holle's spelt this way.

OBITUARY

James F. Ross Sr., age 73, Flushing, died December 5, 2003 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.

He was born December 19, 1929 in Harrison County, Ohio a son of the late James Raymond and Mary Jane Vannest Ross.

He was retired from Fairpoint Coal Company, a member of the Ridge Presbyterian Church, and was a U. S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Ellen M. Ross on May 19, 2003 ; and two brothers, Richard and John Ross.

He is survived by five daughters : Mrs. Rodney ( Betty ) Moore of Zanesville , Mrs. John ( Jean ) White of Flushing , Mrs. Bud ( Mary Kay ) Holle of Scio , Mrs. Bill ( Pam ) Cecil of Newark, and Mrs. Mark ( Janet ) Eckley of Scio ;

three sons : Robert Grimes and wife Barbara of Amsterdam , Jim Ross Jr., and wife, Cherly of Zanesville , and Eugene Ross and wife Jennifer of Flushing ;

12 grandchildren , 30 great-grandchildren ; a brother, Bill Ross of Jewett ; and a sister, Katherine Manbeck of Hopedale, Ohio.

Funeral servicer were held at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home , Cadiz with Evangelist Earl Bailey Sr. officiating.

Interment at Longview Cemetery, New Athens. Military graveside honors were conducted by Cadiz American Legion.

I am searching for the parents and siblings for Frederich John Holle. Frederich was born in 1809 and came to the United States before 1840. Frederich's first child was born in 1839 in Ohio. I find Frederich in Jackson County Indiana in Lutheran Church records as early as 1843. I am also searching for Parish records for Frederich in Germany. I am looking for a marriage record for Frederich. Frederich married Mariette Anna Engel Topie. I would like to know if they were married in Germany or in Ohio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the first I've seen of your posting I am sorry for not replying sooner, work and family time constraints have kept me from genalogical research.

I have no way of knowing for sure if our families are linked but the names, dates and times are certainly close enough to warrant further research. I can try to check with my grandparents this weekend but I doubt they will know much if anything. My uncle that provided the research discovered thus far has been dead more than 10 years. I am pretty new at genealogy but find it fascinating and would be more than happy to work with you to see if we can discover the ties that may or may not bind us.

I am looking for any information on my ancestor, Alois Holle. Family records state Alois was born around 1825 in Alsace-Lorraine, France but was of Germany ancestry, speaking German not French. He went to Quebec, Canada, where he met and married his wife, Elizabeth Scherer (born 1820). Their daughter, Elizabeth Holle, my great-great grandmother, was born May 15, 1856 and they lived in Newark, NJ. Any assistance leading to other Holle family members would be much appreciated!!

Adolph born to Louisa Zweigart Holle, 1st wife of William Armenus Holle. Siblings included William Charles, Louise, Clarence L., and Harold G. Step siblings by second wife Emma Henrietta Leutke were Arnold and Robert. I am great grandson of William A. Adolph married Hazel Jorgensen and had at least one child, son Jack. Also believe he may have married Bessie ???
Do you have any information on Adolph's offspring or marriage(s)? Could use to fill out the branch of family. Also looking for more on his siblings/step siblings, parents, and especially grandfather (Edward J).

My aunt Joan Curtis married Paul Holle in Australia during the 40's and returned to Virginia. they had 2 daughters. We have not heard from them for over 20 yrs. are you related to them, or do you know of them.

My name is Tom Vastenhoudt born at Amsterdam and 57 years old. My grandfather was named FLORENCE HOLLE.
He was born at Belgium or France about 1894 (?). His father lived in Brusselles that times as a professor in medicines.
My mother was born at Amsterdam in 1914 as his illegitimate child of him and he left back to France in 1914 where he was marriaged (?). He disappeared forever. My mother has been looking for him her whole life.....
Is there any connection between your familytree and my searching and/or can you help me further?

A Fred Holle married a Minnie Wikkerink who is my great aunt. Fred was born in Milwaukee in 1862, his father was C.W. Holle. I have some information on their family. Does this connect to yours. Fred and Minnie raised their family in Baldwin WI later moving to the Chicago area.

Indiana HOLLE

I have found a picture that shows that my HOLLE ancestors lived in Bloomington, IN at 2307 E. 2nd St. There is only one photo with a name on the back. It is Frederick Wm. Holle, Sr. (or Friedrich Wilhelm Holle)--my 3rd Great Grandfather. While most of my records show that he lived in Indianapolis most of his life, these pics are linked to the address above. He died in Indy as well as the rest of his immediate family. So, I am guessing that he may have lived in Bloomington around 1890-1899. Of course the 1890 census is a problem and he is listed with family on the 1900 Census in Indianapolis. So, I have a problem. Can anyone help me find these ancestors? Here's the immediate family:

Jean- Just found some more information. Your mother may already have this too.

The mother and father of Louisa Zweigart were Gottlieb and Louisa. They had four sons, Charles, Henry, Adolph, and Herman. This may explain where Adolph's name came from as well as the introduction of "Charles" into our family's name. By the way, the primary occupation in the household was butchering!

Charles was the middle name of my grandfather (Adolph's brother), my father, myself, my oldest son, and his oldest son.

Why do you say Hermansburg, Bremen, Is that some kind of subburb. The town is near Celle . I think, i could be wrong, grouped with the villages of Siddernhausen and many others.
If you meant the town of Hermansburg. You have my interest. I have many from the area of Siddernhausen which is next door to Hermansburg. In fact in the german luthern church area district it is listed on my church records.
I am looking for the Meyer family from there. Kansas or Nebraska, I think.
I did talk to them once and want to find them again.

Not sure if any of you are familiar with my Holle's. My great great grandfather was John C. Holle who was married to Whilemine (spelling) Holle back in 1800's. One of their daughters was Edna Holle/Morgan/Dana (3 marriages.) Most of my older relatives are gone except for my dad who is Harry Garland.
