Classification: Query
Surnames: HOLLENBACHER, BURGESS
I ran across this article in the Lima OH Newspaper dated 24 June 1919:
HOLLENBACHER Shows Improvement & May Live:
Showing gradual improvement in his condition, Carl HOLLENBACHER, charged with the murder of Pearl BURGESS, his former wife, may recover completely according to word from St. Rita's Hospital, where he is under medical care.
HOLLENBACHER attempted suicide immediately after the shooting of his former wife. The bullet penetrated the skull, pushing out the eyeball and causing partial blindness of his right eye. Examination shows that the bullet did not effect the brain.
A police guard is maintained at his bed. Upon recovery, he will face a charge of murder in the first degree.
(I'm not related to this person in any way...thought it might help someone else put his family history together).
