Thomas Hollenback/Hollenbach b abt 1745 d abt 1809 Hampshire Co., VA had a wife Margaret and 14 children. A partition suit was filed for the division of his land in OH in 1816. I’d like to communicate with anyone who descends from any of his children. I’ve traced some of them down line a few generations. I don’t guarantee the accuracy of my findings, but this is what I believe to be his children’s lines and migrations. I began with the place where each was stated to live at the time of the partition suit. The information below was derived from others who shared; deeds; history books; and the census records.

Over the generations the surname spelling changed. Some are Hollenbach; some Hollenback; and others Hollenbeck.

1. Thomas b 1760-1770 migrated to Sullivan Co., IN. Partition said he lived in Pike Co., OH. However, I found a deed from Thomas and Martha selling their share of the homestead and it was from Sullivan Co., IN. Their children were David b abt 1794; William; and Jane b abt 1812 m James Poston.

I also found a Thomas in Pike Co., OH. B 1790-1800, m Rebecca Chenoweth in Pike Co. in 1822. He died before 1835 when she remarried to Daniel Shoemaker. Their children were William, James, and Abigail. This family migrated to Tippecanoe Co., IN

2. Abraham Hollenback b 1766 m Sarah Mary Chandler and remained in Hampshire Co., VA. He died after 1816 and presumably before 1820 as I cannot find him on that census. His son was Zimri m Charity Johnson. Their children Amos, d 1861; Catherine; Sarah; Susan

3. Daniel b 8 May 1768 who remained in Hampshire Co., VA m 1) Mary Adams m2)Sarah Ann Roberts m3) Keziah Blue Hudson. Daniel’s children by his first wife were Sarah; Elizabeth m Daniel Roberts; Margaret m Abraham Rinehart, Maria m Ellis Rinehart, and Catherine m Col. James Allen. His daughter by Sarah Ann Roberts was Mary Caroline m Alfred Taylor.

4. Jacob b 1771 m Susan Jones. At the time of partition they lived in Muskingham Co., OH. From there they migrated to Perry Co., OH. Their children were Nancy, Sarah, John, Daniel, Jacob, Susannah & Harrison. Many of this family migrated to Marshall and Woodford counties in IL.

5. William b bef 1775 lived in Washington, D.C. at time of partition. He married Sarah ??? and moved back to Hampshire Co. His children were William, Thomas, and Elizabeth. William [Jr.] stayed in Hampshire. Thomas migrated to Jasper then White Co., IN. His children were James W., Sarah and Amos. Elizabeth m James Leatherman.

6. Margaret b bef 1775 m John Jones and lived in Fairfield Co., OH at the time of the partition. Based on early census, I believe they had some daughters, but I don’t know who they were. In 1850 Margaret was living with Sarah and Samuel Strunk in Hocking Twp., Fairfield Co., OH. It’s possible that Sarah is her daughter.

7. Sarahb abt 1776 m Jacob Lease and remained in Hampshire Co., VA. Their children are Thomas and Cintha. It is said that Thomas moved to Clark Co., IL. Cintha m William McNary.

8. John b 10 Feb 1778 m Mary Jane Campbell; lived in Fairfield Co., OH at time of partition. He then migrated to Pulaski & Cass counties in IN. His children were a)Mary, b)Henry, c)Edmond, d)Emily, e)Isaac, H.; f)George W. and g)Thomas Loren.

I know nothing about Mary.
It is said that Henry m Hannah Cross. He lived in Cass Co., IN and had children George W., Joseph Cross, and John B. George W. & John B. remained in Cass while Joseph Cross Hollenback lived in Fulton Co., IN.
Edmond’s children were George H. and John B. who migrated to Schuyler Co., IL then George moved to Pike Co., MO. Lucinda, Zimri, Mary Ann, Maria, Simon Peter and Isabel remained in Cass Co., IN.

9. Elizabeth b abt 1784 m John Bentley. She lived in Hardy Co., VA at time of partition, but migrated to Circleville, Pickaway Co., OH. I know nothing of Elizabeth’s family.

10. Catherine b abt 1785 m Peter Young. Catherine was deceased at the time of the partition, but left a son George Young, about whom I know nothing.

11. George b abt 1788 lived in Muskingham Co., OH at time of partition. He married Nancy Eversole in Fairfield Co., OH and later migrated to Hancock Co., OH. His children were George Jr. m Elizabeth Green; Margaret, Catherine and Martha m John Isaac Davis.

I believe the George Jr. migrated to Ionia Co., MI. His children were Isaac, John, George, Jacob, Daniel, Nancy & Westley. I know nothing about Margaret or Catherine. Martha remained in Hancock Co., OH through 1870 and had a family of 10 children.

12. Nancy b 28 Aug 1879 m Okey Johnson and remained in Hampshire Co., VA. Their children were R. Parker; Oakey Samuel; William; Elijah Greenwell; Abraham; and Harriet A.

13. Amos b 1790-1800 lived in Washington, D. C. at time of partition. I believe he might be the Amos I find in Circleville, Pickaway Co., OH. I believe his children, or at least part of them might be Martha E. m Abner Briggs and Joseph m Jane Nevin. Joseph had children Mortimer and Asa F.

14. Isaac b 4 Apr 1794 m Susannah Johnson. Their children were Charity, Margaret and Elizabeth. They remained in Hampshire Co., VA. After Susannah’s death in 1842 he married Keziah Bleu. They had no children. Charity m Elijah Rinehart; Margaret m John Mack Rees; and Elizabeth m Silas Taylor.
